3/1/03 Phew!!!!! Finally , I got some time to work on the site. >> I've got the Miscellaneous section up (2 parts are up, the rest are semi-built ..lol ) >> I finally got round to putting up the Gladiator pics that Helena sent in. Big thanks to her!! More Gladiator pics that I have archived are to go up soon. >> The 8mm pics should be going up in the next couple of days. >> Go check out my new Bookmarks section. >> Go sign my Guestmap (which I think is really cute) The Guestbook is still running too.. >>.......and finally, I am not even going to attempt to catch up on the Joaquin news I have missed. Apart from the IAAL site finally opening, and a couple of sightings I don't think there is anything greatly important. Please feel free to email me with comments about my site and what I am putting up :-) Thanks for the patience in my lack of up-dating!!! ;-) Hope you all had a great New Year and Best Wishes for 2003!!!
4/1/03 Ok...I got another two new parts of the Miscellaneous section put up. >> A love test..... to calculate your LOVE potential with JP..hehe >> Just Joaquin's own Joaquin themed Hangman game. >> I'm thinking about making up a Joaquin quiz...though not entirely sure how to go about it, so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please email me, thanx. :-)
4/1/03 #2 Yay!!! Another part of the Miscellaneous section!!! >> I've created the first Just Joaquin monthly Calendar!!! Hope you all like ......ENJOY!!! Now I better go do essays.....back to school on Monday :-( ...lol
10/1/03 Well....first week back at school and all, so nothing achieved on the site. Here's why: If any of you came to visit then you might have noticed that I blocked the site for 4 days. This was because there was a discrepancy between this site and another. I got a polite post in my guestbook from a french webmaster alleging that our sites were extremely similar. I went to this site expecting to find another Joaquin site (which turned out not to be the case). However , the only thing that I could discern was similar about the two sites was that we both had the same background (black with a blue water droplets effect down the left side). Although the webmaster did not ask it, I have removed the background (as I got a couple of posts in my guestbook from other people pointing the similarity out). As the webmistress of Just Joaquin I would like to state that the background was not taken from any other site (or would have been used for that matter, if I'd known another site used it as well.) The background was emailed to me months ago by a friend who thought it would look good on the site. Sooooooo, the site is a mess, with different backgrounds all over the place. I was mucking around with PhotoShop this week and I made a strange graphic that I have put temporarily on the home page. Don't know what some cards , an apple and strawberies have to do with Joaquin...but there you go. (Go look if you are wondering what I am talking about...lol ) ** Rant endeth** >> Thanks to the people who emailed me with positive comments about the calendar :-) Much appreciated !!!
11/1/03 The IAAL premiere took place in Copenhagen last night, though our man Mr P did not attend :-( >> I'm mucking around on PhotoShop at the moment and just made this blue bordered "news" background . I liked the blue/black colour combination of the previous background, so I'll just make my own. I'll try and check in with more updates later ;-)
14/1/03 Well, I slaved away last night putting up the backgrounds I made, so at least the pages match now!!! Hope you like them. >> Just Joaquin has a new fast URL it's- http://committed.to/JoaquinPhoenix it's a URL redirect, so the site has not actually moved location, and the old address will still work, but this one is a lot shorter, looks better and is easier to remember!!!!!!!! >> Thanks to the people that have signed my Guestmap, keep going peeps!!!
1/2/03 O.K...... Just checking in to upload the new February Calendar !!! Was doing that when I was supposed to be revising for my prelims... *chuckles*. I have actually been preparing a few new sections for the site, but they are not quite ready yet. Well, I hope you like the Calendar, and good luck to anyone else about to sit some eeeevil exams!!!!!
1/2/03 #2 ~ Ahhh couldn't help myself.... the internet is too tempting when studying..lol. >>Here are some great pics of Joaquin and the rest of the Phoenix family when they were all younger. They were sent in by Pilar, many, many thanks to her!!! >> Remember to go check out the pretty new Calendar !!!!
25/2/03 AHA!!!!!! Yes ...I am still around...lol. Though you wouldn't think it from the way the site has been treated (i.e not updated in almost a month!!! *hides face in shame*) Well, I have not been wasting my time entirely, I was trying (still am lol) to teach myself more advanced HTML so I could kind of start fresh with the site.... i.e - better layout etc. I'll try and post a screen-shot of one of my efforts so far if you could let me know what you think =) >> Well , Signs is now out to rent, and will be available to be bought (and Joaquin taken home :p) on March 31st >> I pinched my parents newspaper (The Herald) and this was the good write up they gave : "If you rent one video this month, make it his one. It is quite simply the most thrilling and thought- provoking movie that's come along for a while and again marks M N Shyamalan ( the writer-director of The Sixth Sense and the intriguing and underrated Unbreakable) out as an exceptional talent. Mel Gibson stars as Graham. a farmer who wakes one day to discover crop-circles on his land. He and his brother, merrill (Joaquin Phoenix) are convinced they've been visited by well-known pranksters. However, it soon becomes clear that theirs is not the only land to have been affected, and the significance of the patterns is much more sinister than they imagined. To give away any more wouldn't be fair. Shyamalan has created a movie which is the absolute antithesis of just about every other movie that has dealt with the same subject. This is the non-sensationalist, realistic take on the kind of story which is usually handled in special effects laden blockbuster form. The suspense- and there's tons of it- comes as much from what we don't see as it does from what we do, and Shyamalan's Hitchcockian influence extends to the score (the opening music is pure bernard Herrmann) and to his own short appearance in the film. If the ending doesn't have you squealing with the delight at the genius of it all, rewind the tape and watch it all over again. Closely." I thought that review was really good, I was well pleased when I read that!! >> Here's another little cutting that I have had kicking about for a while .It's from an older issue of Cosmopolitan and it takes 4 male celebs smiles and analyses them... they must have extremely good taste..lol... as the man himself is one of the four!!!! " It's In His Smile These celebrity grins might be for the benefit of the paparazzi, but as body language expert Martin Lloyd Elliot reveals, you can tell a lot about a man by the width of his grin... 1 Matt Damon : Full On Flasher Matt's smile uses his whole face. With his eyes creased and his forehead flattened out, this is a very open facial expression, revealing an intensely honest and sincere personality. 2 Robbie Williams : Cheeky Chappy Robbie's smile is an effortless ray of sunshine. His whole face light up, indicating that he is full of fun. The crinkles in the corners of his eyes indicate a cheeky side to his personality. 3 Russell Crowe : Shy Guy Russell's smile may be less enthusiastic than the others , but htis doesm't suggest that he is any less sincere. This is a self-contained smile, his cheekbones are raised and his eyes seem very soft, suggesting a sweet nature. 4 Joaquin Phoenix : Secret Smile This is an interesting half smile: usually a person smiles with the mouth rather than the eyes. Here, Joaquin's mouth makes him look quite serious, but his eyes are smiling in a cheeky way, indicating that he is happier inside than he is willing to reveal."
