AK47 is developed by Serious
Seeds. They travelled somewhere
to Afghanistan to get the seeds
from local hash producer, then
developed it further, who knows
what's in it. But I think it's a
bit rich to say it's "just
afghan x kush". |

i was always told that ak 47 was
an extremely potent hybrid made
from crosing afgani and kush
that flowered in only 47 days,
now it seems that they have a
new explanation for how they got
it, something about it being a
one hit wonder. so im
confused,....... |

says:
HISTORY OF SEED BANK
The breeder behind
Serious Seeds, Simon is
his name, is responsible
for the material sold by
the seed bank. He
studied biology at one
of the universities in
Amsterdam and was always
a non smoker. He only
discovered the merits of
smoking pure marihuana
after his study while
travelling
through Africa in 1986.
From that moment on he
started collecting
seeds. Back in Holland
he immediatly started
growing those seeds out
and crossing what he
thought were the best
plants. Contacs with
other growers gave him
access to different
plants from which he
also selected the best
ones. The genetic
background of this
material was not always
clear.
Simon worked for some
time at Sensi Seeds and
still has a good
relationship with the
people behind Sensi, Ben
and Alan Dronkers. In
1994 an effort was made
to start a seed company
with some American pot
refugees. That year the
AK-47 as well as the
Chronic won prices at
the American Cannabis
Cup festival in
Amsterdam. That first
seed company with the
Americans was
stopped and in 1995
Serious Seeds was
started.

AK-47
This easy to grow plant
is our most popular. It
is of medium height and
produces good yields
quite quickly. Extremely
STRONG odor and smoke.
Take extra care with
odor control when
growing near neighbors.
The name was given not
out of any idea of
violence, but more in
association with the
‘one hit wonder’ that
the smoke is. Quality
without compromise makes
AK suitable for
commercial grows or home
use. These plants have a
short flowering period
for a sativa, producing
compact, not too leafy
buds that gleam with a
coat of resin crystals.
Winning SEVEN prizes!!
in Cannabis
competitions, including
second prize for the
Best Sativa in the 1999
High Times Cannabis Cup,
proves it is a favorite
to smoke as well as to
grow.
Type: mostly sativa
Indoor clone grow time:
5 – 10 days
Indoor flowering time:
53 – 63 days
Indoor yield: 350- 500
grams/m2
Outside/ Greenhouse
harvest time:
15-31 October
Price: Eur 80,-

That's what I'm expecting to be
growing. |

This may be irrelevant, but
something interesting I found..
Posted by Prince Caspian
Arjan at the green house
first introduced the
White widow strain in
1995. All reports that I
have read state that it
has a very complex
lineage. In Amsterdam
most every coffee shop
now sells WW. On my last
trip I tried 3 different
" WW". One sample from
the Green House centrum,
one from Homegrown
Fantasy( Hydro) and one
from a small local's
shop called coffee shop
" Tops". All three were
very different. In all
honesty my least
favorite of the lot came
from the green house. It
was a nice bud but it
didn't have the resin
coverage like I
remembered from previous
trips to Adam. The Hydro
from Homegrown fantasy
was excellent as was the
super resiny sample from
"Tops'.
Other items that I have
read state that WW is
still very much unstable
and therefor you could
get almost anything.
While the exact lineage
is still a secret or at
least unknown to me,
many if not all of the
WW spin off strains are
easier to figure out.
White Rhino = WW X KUSH
White Russian = WW X
AK47
Great white Shark = WW X
SK#1
Misty ( a supposed
sister of WW ) is
thought by many to be a
just one of the many
different genetic
incarnations of WW, It
is said to be a much
more stable variation of
the WW line.
Super Skunk = Sk#1 X
Afghani ( a skunk #1
backcrossed to an
Afghani indica)
Afghani #1 is basically
selected Afghani's back
crossed with its self.
To produce short squat
plants with lots'o
resin.
Jack Herer = Sk#1 X NL#5
X Haze ( This multi
cross has been
stabilized over the past
couple of years and is
now
reported to be very even
and consistant)
Williams Wonder = Is
described as a special
indica hybrid, that is
short and squat in
stature. It is a strain
that was
developed in the US. The
87-88 Super Sativa Seed
Club catalog states that
it can not flowered
outdoors unless
flowering is induced
inside first. So this
indica hybrid was
selected solely for
indoor growing.
Northern lights #1 =
Described as a true
breeding strain (Stable)
of afghani origins.
Northern lights #2 =
originally a Hindu Kush
X Thai cross. It was
selectively inbreed and
developed into a stable
almost all kush type
cross that is mostly
indica.
Northern lights #135A =
Available commercially
for just a short while
(87-88) from the
original seed bank.
Described as "a fast
finishing hybrid of
Northern lights and an
afghani". This sounds a
lot like the fore runner
of Slyder / Chronic.
Skunk #1 = originally
developed by the Sacred
Seed Co. ( Cali/
Holland) Sk#1 arose from
an Afghani X a Columbian
X a Thai. As far back as
1987 they were reporting
it's stability to less
than 5% deviation. Now
11 years later it has to
be one of the most
stable strains around.
Durban = the 1987 SSSC
catalog states this
strain originated in
Pinetown Durban South
Africa. Listed as a pure
Sativa. AKA Durban
Poison.

And FINALLY what I have been
looking for ages.. bowls..
joints.. hehe, time passes
quick.
Oh, it's from StrainBase:
http://www.cannabis-strains.com/European_Strains/AK-47/index.html
Nevil Schoenbottom, High
Times Magazine, March
1987
Growing Profile: Big
Time Breeder
Grow Setup:
Grow Medium:
Yield:
Overall Potency:
Feeding:
Strain Profile:
This is a very pop sweet
plant. 3rd place winner
9th Cannabis Cup. A very
potent 50% Indica/50%
Sativa cross nicknamed
The Killer!
Aromatic, sweet tasting
producing an incredible
debilitating high.
Nevil went to great
expense to obtain seeds,
a commitment that is
best illustrated by a
secret trip to
Mazar-i-Sharif in
northern Afghanistan.
According to the Moslem
legend, one of
Mohammed's sons died in
Mazar-i-Sharif.
Consequently, it is a
very holy city. It is
also known for high
quality hashish.
Although hash from the
area had been readily
available in the late
70's, the Soviet
invasion of that country
greatly reduced exports.
In 1985, an Afghan
refugee told Nevil the
(cannabis) fields around
Mazar-i-Sharif were
being destroyed. "That
was what I needed to
hear" says Nevil, " I
caught the next plane to
Pakistan to save the
strain
After being smuggled
into a refugee camp in
Peshawar while lying on
the floor of a car,
Nevil made contact with
a 30-year old Muslim
fanatic who had a
throbbing vein that ran
from between his eyes
straight up to his
forehead. The man took a
lump of black hash out
of his pocket and told
Nevil that it had been
processed by his uncle,
a man known as Mister
Hashish.
Surrounded by four men
pointing machine guns at
him, Nevil set about
negotiating with Mr.
Hashish, a Mujahedin
commander, and finally
persuaded him to send a
squad of his men 280
miles into Soviet
occupied territory and
come back with two kilos
of healthy Mazari seeds.
Nevil added " He thought
I was ridiculous because
I didn't want to buy
hashish or opium. Nobody
had ever come out to buy
seeds, and at first he
had no idea what I was
talking about. I tried
there trying to explain
genetics to this tribal
hash leader in sign
language. When he
finally figured out what
I wanted, he asked too
much money. I took a
zero off his price and
gave him 10% up front.
He called me a bandit,
but I had the seeds four
days later.

MORE!
READ THIS:
I got familiar with the
Northern lights family
back in the 1980's when
Nevil's Seed Bank
offered the whole
lineup. The original
Northern Lights family
is quite diverse.
Northern Lights 1 was a
single stalked, compact
plant with a moderate
Afghani smell. No one
offers this classic
version at this time. A
strong plant and buzz.
Northern Lights 2 was a
sturdy, pine tree shaped
with a musty and piney
odor. Dutch Passion
(Oasis) and THSeeds
(Closet Queen) currently
offer versions.
Northern Lights 2 X 5
from The Seed Bank was
very bushy and resinous
with a strong juniper
berry smell. A truly
remarkable hybrid not
offered by anyone.
Northern Lights 5 is
available from BCSC for
$75, a variety Nevil of
The Seed Bank said was
only available pure as a
cutting. It is likely
hybridized at one point.
Northern Lights 9 X 5
"disappeared" when Nevil
sold his genetics to
Sensi Seeds. This is the
only original Northern
Lights 9 genetics source
to my knowledge.
These are the original
Northern Lights breeding
lines from which today's
versions arose. Sensi
Seed Bank sells Northern
Lights with no number
attached. Having access
to Nevil's original
genetics, my guess is
that they crossed an
Northern Lights 1 male
to their Northern Lights
5 mother and stabilized
the results. Northern
Lights Special is a
hybrid from KC Brains in
Holland of Sensi's
Northern Lights crossed
to a Haze female. It is
an excellent hybrid of
these two popular
strains.
Northern Lights 9 was
only sold in seed form
as a hybrid to the
Northern Lights 5 mother
plant by Nevil at The
Seed Bank during the
late 1980's. Sagarmatha
receives a lot of their
strains delivered to
them as a finished
product from outside
breeders. It is possible
that someone produced
these seeds. The known
fact of a Northern
Lights 9 male existing
meant purebred seed
should have been
possible to produce,
unless it was a male
only strain. I am
unfamiliar with Northern
Lights 10, but that
doesn't mean it wasn't
out there. Trichome
Technologies has a
strain named Northern
Lights 6. That is
another member of the
family I never heard of.

I start with FoxFarm's Ocean
Forest Mix (thank you god for
making FoxFarm sell this!). Then
I add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of
blood/bone meal per gallon. Then
I add a couple grams/gallon of
Pyrosol silicone/clay additive
(incredible stuff!!! trust me!)
That's that. The Ocean Forest
Mix has crab shell, fish
emulsion and worm castings in
it, among other things... It
doesn't smell like fish at all.
It's a great all-around soil.
The only improvement you might
want to make is to add a cup or
2 of perlite to each gallon. |

Marine Cuisine (ferts from ocean

first plants with it are just
coming out of the ground now so
i don't know yet how it'll go...
I used 1/2 the recommended dose
since it's a seedling and will
use regular dose when they
transplant from the 1/2 gallon
pot to a bigger one. May try
that ocean forest next go round
depending on how this one goes

Those who claim ak47 is afgani X
kush are mistaken. There is no
way afghani X kush would produce
a mostly sativa hybrid. Serious
seeds description of this strain
states it is mostly sativa.
Therefore the proposes lineage
above is much more likely to be
fact. |
