Chapter One

“Oof!” Phoenicia cried as she clumsily stumbled over Xenophanes’ sleeping form. Rather irritated, Xenophanes fiercely slashed at her with a flashing bolt of light. “Oof!” yelled Phoenicia for the second time, as she fell on her already aching back. Rushing to help, Persephone helped her up and harshly told Xenophanes off for hurting such a delicate girl. Smirking, Phoenicia stuck her tongue rudely at the steaming mad boy. Boiling with anger, Xenophanes shakily raised his jeweled staff, and slashed ferociously again at the wide-eyed girl. Poor Phoenicia was thrown a good ten feet. Sobbing, she hurriedly shuffled back to her nice, comfy and safe cabin.

Smiling confidently, Xenophanes calmly strolled down the old wooden plank of the flying ship Calypsa and defiantly walked into the market, looking for new gems to add to her already over decorated staff. She did not notice a painted face peer at her, and then slink back into the shadows.

Xenophanes chose a large sapphire to go with his emerald staff, wondering what he should do next. He strolled to a news scroll booth and bought a news scroll at a rather cheap price. He took one look and nearly fainted. Using teleport, he brought himself to Phoenicia’s cabin in a flash. She was snoring contently on her cot. Xenophanes violently shook her. Muttering and cursing, Phoenicia grumpily took hold of the news scroll that Xenophanes was shaking in her face, stared at the headline and fell backward. “N-no, th-this can’t be!” She whispered. “No one can steal the gem of Laurasia and get away with it!”

“You haven’t read the whole thing!” cried Xenophanes “read it carefully!” Phoenicia shakily stood up and stammered the frightening words out loud.

The Gem of Laurasia-STOLEN

At high noon yesterday, the Gem of Laurasia, the support for all life on Laurasia, was mysteriously stolen. Not only that, but the robber cruelly murdered several innocent and loyal guards. The Gem Cavern was a mess of splattered blood and dead guards. The robber was extremely cunning, for although there was a massacre with a fierce battle, the robber left not one fingerprint, only a drop of sapphire-blue blood. Scientists who are currently studying this mysterious evidence are stumped. There is nothing in Laurasia that has blue blood. However, there is a legend of a ferocious creature from the underground world of the Eboist with huge claws and blue blood. Scientists are still trying to solve this case. There will be another update soon.
