Watching the Purple Moon...
Once upon a time, my daughter Eve was volunteered (by me) to take part in a teacher education class at WKU. At the tender age of five, she became a guinea pig for a budding future elementary teacher (besides me).
That summer, she wrote and illustrated two story books, although only one was required. It was a sign, but not the first. Eve loved to write as well as to read.
In high school, she decided to begin a modest publication of her own, a 'zine entitled, "Life from the Purple Moon." I encouraged her creativity. And when her father saw what she was doing, he offered the use of his copying machine. Using it was much better than trying to produce 8 double-sided pages somewhere like Kinko's. Teachers, fellow students, and others got to read her poetry and prose, see her cartoons and other art, and write to her to express their feelings.
The Purple Moon is no longer a regular publication, sad to say. Eve is on to doing other things, making webpages and writing papers. I miss Cliff and YX, two of her characters.
I want to be like Eve when I grow up. (If I ever decide to grow up.)
Eve has written many more things, some quite interesting. You can find some of them online here...
