I was searching for photos of Lady Liberty when I found this picture in Reader's Digest's book, How in the World, published in 1991. It gave me an eerie feeling.

This is a link to CafePress. You have been able to get t-shirts and other gear that show your support and donate money to one of the charities that support victims of this tragedy. These organizations have requested that we do not use their names, since there are some unethical people who are using the fund-raising to benefit themselves, not others. When others restart their stores, as I have done, I will link to them here. My own store is here: LIBERTY_ART *
This is a bracelet I made for my daughter, Cathie Dawn, who is a Medical Specialist in the U.S. Army. I made varying beaded bracelets and gave them to fellow employees at Kentucky Downs. I had heard on the news that some kids were making friendship bracelets to honor those who had died.
On September 11, 2001, an event occurred which had seemed unthinkable for most of my life. Attacks on U.S. soil, against men, women, children --- U.S. soldiers, citizens, guests from other countries, firefighters and police officers. Civilian airplanes carrying innocent people were used as missiles to attack the World Trade Towers in New York City and the Pentagon Building near Washington, D.C. Another crashed before it reached the intended target, thanks to brave passengers who interfered with the hijackers. No one was singled out. Thousands died. The tragedies were felt around the world. The author of these outrages chose to hide like the coward he is, allowing his stormtroopers to commit suicide for his cause, murdering innocent people. People say this country will rise from the ashes like a phoenix and be reborn. I feel this is already happening. We will not be influenced by the prejudice that allows people to blame others based on their religion or ethnicity: these terrorists are barely human. They acted based on their own hatred and need for power, not on any recognized form of religion. Christians, Jews, Muslims, and people from all religions will come together against terrorism, a crime against all humankind.
I made these to be worn not only in memory of those whose lives were taken, but for those whose lives have been forever changed. I've made about seventy bracelets.
