But that's enough about her. Let's talk about me.
I'm no fairytale princess.  And although I have felt charmed and magical, from time to time,
I am only human.

I grew up thinking someday I would be married (like my mommy and daddy)
and have little boys and girls, and do all kinds of wonderful things...
like play with my children, draw and paint and tell stories, and have adventures.
I just didn't know I'd be doing so much of it alone.

No, I didn't get to marry Paul McCartney, but I survived that disappointment
to go on to other things.
Like my first date.
The Valentine's dance ~~ with a guy I had turned down the first time he asked me.
Awwww, isn't that sweet and romantic?
Actually, no, it
wasn't. And to put a stop to well-meaning but meddling people,
I had to turn him down again -- when he asked me to the Prom.
I thought people were going to pick out china patterns for us.
Good grief, I was only fifteen. I needed time.
