I am an intern (first year resident) at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. I graduated from Texas Tech Health Science Center School of Medicine last May. I have matched into the Anesthesiology program at UT Southwestern, and I will start my CA-1 year in July of 2003 .
I have a few pages put together here about my academic career. First, I would like to tell you about my journal, What I learned in School Today. My original plan was to write a small bit in this journal everyday, but the insane schedule of medical school quickly disolved that idea. I did write down some of my experiences from anatomy lab & preceptorships. Hopefully, it will give you a look into the life of a medical student.
The next section is titled Texas Medical Schools . It was originally a section that I used to track my interviews. As I interviewed at different schools, I would add them to the page along with a write up on my inteview experience there. After starting medical school, I added Baylor and the University of North Texas for completeness.
Next, I added a section including some tips on getting into medical school. Especially for a first generation college graduate like myself, it was a long and complicated journey, so I thought that a quick break down of the process would be helpful.
What is medical school like? In general, I would say it is very intense. I heard one classmate of mine state, "this makes undergrad seem like kindergarten!" I absolutely agree!
