Reviews for One Eye in the Darkness
A mothers worst nightmare is losing her children. For author Cassie Richardson, that nightmare had just become reality. A frantic late night call from her police detective ex-husband, Michael, plunges Cassie into a dangerous chain of events that will alter her life and those closest to her forever. Michael was calling to tell her that their four year old son, David, had been kidnapped.
Following Michaels cryptic orders, Cassie goes to the police station to enlist Jordon Callaghan, Michaels partner, in the search for David. However, Michael is found to be missing too. Retracing Michaels steps, Jordon and Cassie soon discover that Michael is dead and David is still in the clutches of the kidnapper. Cassie, desperate to rescue David, tries to meet the kidnappers demands, but he wants no cops to be around when the exchange is done and Jordon wont let her out of his sight. Her final attempt at rescuing David is successful, but leaves an innocent bystander in the hospital and the kidnapper still at large.
Settling into a quasi-normal life in a new house, Cassie and David, with Jordons help and love, begin to rebuild their shattered lives. Soon, however, Cassie begins to wonder if she will ever find peace. Someone tries to run her off the road, her break lines are cut, and both she and David keep seeing glimpses of Michael. Is it his ghost or did he fake his death for some reason? Who wants her dead, a crazed fan the kidnapper Michael? Are her feelings for Jordon real or just reflections of the guilt she feels over Michaels death?
Tired of the same old suspense stories? Lori Derby Bingley brings fresh blood to the romantic suspense genre. Ms. Bingleys writing is crisp and detailed, yet filled with emotion. Her heroine, Cassie, has the strength and resolve to rival any male lead but is willing to show her softer side and follow her heart. ONE EYE IN THE DARKNESS had me hook, line, and sinker from the first paragraph and I couldnt put it down until I was finished. ONE EYE IN THE DARKNESS IS an exceptional book not to be missed.

One night is all it takes to turn Cassie Richardson's life upside down. Her son is taken from the warmth of his bed and used as a tool in a vicious game of revenge. On his way to find their son, Cassie's ex-husband, Michael is driven from the road. The chain of events that will be unleashed by this event leads Cassie, a published author, to live in fear of the stories she writes becoming reality.
Jordan Callaghan, Michael's friend and partner on the police force, comes to Cassie's side to offer his help in solving the mystery involved in the kidnapping and surrounding Michael's death. Even after receiving her son back, unharmed, strange events are happening and it seems that Cassie is the target of a vicious killer. Jordan stands by her side and soon, develops very deep feelings for the woman he is trying his best to protect.
Jordan and Cassie are at odds over their newly developing relationship. They each have trust issues and are smart enough to know that situations such as they are currently in are not the best foundation for a relationship. They rely heavily on each other in times of need and slowly give in to their budding feelings for one another. All the while, someone is playing cruel jokes on them and is hiding in plain sight just beneath their noses.
Ms. Bingley has laid out a very promising story. It has many facets to keep you turning pages .... I could not give up on the story, even when I was frustrated, because the intrigue was just too great. The character development was great and it seemed that there were no frivolous characters. Everyone had a part and they played it well. It has been previously noted that Publish America's covers were made of a material that did not hold up very well. This was not what happened in this case. My copy of this book held strong over a 1400 mile road trip. I found the quality of the pages to be top-notch and it was a pleasure to hold ...

One Eye in the Darkness is a fabulous thriller! There were enough suspects to keep the reader wondering at who the villain truly was throughout the entire story. Yet it was never overcomplicated or overcrowded with too many characters. And I have to say that Im a sucker for a white knight. Jordan was perfectly portrayed as one for Cassies damsel in distress. The sparks flew off the pages when they were together! Having never read anything by Lori Derby Bingley before, I was unsure what to expect. I was most definitely impressed! This story contains everything I love about a great story: romance, sexual sparks, and a good mystery thrown in the mix. Ill be on the lookout for the next one from her, and Id recommend you do the same!
