Summary: After season 3...Max and Isabel comfort each other as only they can... ************* "Michael, do you know where Isabel is?" asked Max as he walked in the back door of the Crashdown. Michael stood at the grill flipping burgers and serving up orders. "Order up!" he yelled as he rang the bell on the counter. After he completed the last one, he turned to Max and wiping his hands on his apron asked, "Have you tried the cemetery?" Taken aback, Max looked at Michael like he had lost his mind and asked,"The cemetery? Why would she be there? It's dark out anyway." Michael just stared at Max and shook his head. "You really have no idea do you? At Max's negative shake of the head Michael replied,"She goes there all the time." "But it's been two months!" said Max confused. Looking up at the ceiling like he was seeking answers to explain more clearly to Max, Michael finally turned again to his friend and said,"Max, he was her friend. The closest one she had. She feels he died because of her. She goes there everyday to sit. Just sitting and talking to him. I've tried to get her to stop, but she won't listen to me. I'm sure she is there now." "I had no idea she was still doing that," said Max shaking his head. " I knew she did it the first week but not now. How could I have missed that?" he asked Michael. "You've had a lot on your own mind what with Tess and your son...I've tried to keep an eye on her, but somethings she just won't listen to me on." "Michael! I've got an order for an 'Alien Resurrection'" bellowed Maria threw the order window. Michael threw a towel over his shoulder as he started back to the grill. "Check the cemetery. I'm telling you I bet that is where she is," he said as he readied the food. "Yeah, I will," said Max quietly. Getting up and going to the door, he turned back and said,"Michael?" Michael looked his way. "Yeah?" "Thanks. Thanks for watching out for her," said Max greatfully. Michael smiled and nodded his head,"No problem." Max headed out the door and toward his new jeep in search of Isabel ********* Max pulled into the darkened cemetery and drove towards the site of Alex's grave. Threw the trees he could see candles flickering in the darkness like fireflies. Pulling the jeep to a stop , he sat and watched as Isabel arranged flowers around the headstone and appeared to be talking. Talking to Alex. Getting out of the jeep, Max walked up towards the site and stood back quietly observing Isabel. She had tears streaming down her face as she talked to Alex, trying to make some sense out of her life and all that had happened. "I know I keep saying this to you Alex, but I'm sorry. So sorry for involving you in all of this. If I had just left you alone instead of seeking you out to find out if you were cool to help us...if I hadn't called you up to ask you to come to the Crashdown and meet me that night you would never have gone to Tess...I should never have let you go on loving me while I loved someone who could never love me in return...it wasn't fair to you, and I'm sorry." She laughed a sad laugh as she continued ,wiping at her face where the tears fell down. "I know you told me it didn't matter that I loved someone else, that you were content to be my friend, but it did matter didn't it? I hurt you by loving him. And it hurt you even more because you knew I could never tell him...have him, but I couldn't be with you either. I'm sorry Alex. I didn't want to give you half a heart. I loved you as my friend, but we both knew I could never love you in the way you wanted or needed. The way you deserved." Max felt his throat tighten and burn as his own tears began to fall watching Isabel. Her agony was devestating to him. His heart broke not only for her pain, but also as he heard the words she spoke of loving another. She loved someone else. But then she didn't know he had come to realize that his love for her could no longer be hidden. That he had been searching her out to reveal his feelings for her, and hope that she was not too horrified by his revelation. She lay on Alex's grave now, pressing her cheek to the ground covering where he lay. "I need you Alex. I need you to tell me what to do. You always were straight with me, never pulling any punches. But now I'm lost. I have no one to talk to about these feelings I have." Rising up to her knees she said,"Maybe I should leave here. I know that Max needs me to help him find a way to get his son back, but...his son. I still can't believe that he has a son with Tess." Max started to make his presense known to her, but her next words stopped him. "I'm so envious of her Alex. And the thing is, she doesn't love him ... not like I do. I love him and she bares his son. How fair is that?" If he had not been leaning against a tree he would have fallen. She loved him? Surely he had missunderstood her. She was speaking of someone else. Listening harder, he waited for her to say again that she loved him in the way he loved her. "I have hidden how I feel about him everyday for the past two years. When he started up with Liz, I just knew I would die. I tried breaking them apart when I would see them together, but he always went back to her." Sniffing, she rearranged the roses as if needing to keep her hands busy. "And when he took up with Tess...I really was shocked. That was out of the blue. He had denied the destinies so strongly and then he was seeking her out. That hurt most of all. But then he didn't know how I felt about him, so how can I be upset with him? " She laughed a sad laugh cut with sobs,"But you know all of this already don't you Alex? You alone know my pain...and now you have taken it to your grave...I'm so sorrrrrryyy," she broke down as she collapsed on his grave, her fists clenching the earth. Max could stand it no more. Wiping his face, he hurried across the space between them and kneeled down to touch her hair, speaking to her softly, "Isabel...Isabel don't...don't cry," he pleaded with her. Startled, Isabel jerked up and around. "Max?! Oh God, you frightened me," she said in a shakey voice as she wiped at her tears. "What are you doing here?" she asked. "That's my question for you Isabel," he said gently as he rubbed her shoulder in a light caress. "Why are here in the dark talking to Alex?" Looking around her, she tried to think of someting to say to explain her actions, but words failed her. Finally she asked,"How long have you been standing there Max? How did you know where to find me? Did Michael tell you?" Max sat down beside her, his back leaning against the tree that grew beside Alex's grave. "Yeah Michael told me. He says you've been here everyday like this since Alex died Iz. Why? Why couldn't you come to me and talk to me...or to Michael? You are not alone you know...far from it," he asked wanting to know if she would now tell him she loved him. Isabel shook her head. "You have had other things on your mind...bigger things. And Michael ...well I knew he cared...I just needed to be here is all." Knowing she wasn't going to tell him the truth, he realized he would have to make the first move. "Isabel...ummm...I heard what you said to Alex." Isabel's eyes flew to his. "What do you think you heard Max?" she asked cautiously. "The last several minutes...I know how you feel responsible for his death...how you wished you hadn't called him that night...but you know that he was dead already Isabel, Tess took care of that, not you," and taking a deep breath he added at her paniced look, "and I know who you loved me instead of him." Closing her eyes against the look of disgust and pity she knew she would see, her face flaming she said, "Max, you don't know what you heard. I was rambling, that's all." "Isabel look at me....please?" he asked her pleadingly. Tears squeezed out the corners of her eyes as she tried to hold them back and failed. Opening her eyes she saw the tender look he gave her. "I was looking for you to tell you that I...I have feelings for you." At her surprised look he said,"I never dreamed you felt the same way about me. I was prepaired to have you yell at me if I told you I how I felt, but I never thought you would return my feelings," he finished softly taking her face in his hands. "Max..." she whimpered. "Shhhh," he said as he pulled her into his arms. "I don't understand...when...?" she asked against his neck as she breathed in his scent. "Always. I've always loved you and was afraid to let you know because of who we are supposed to be. But after losing my son to Tess and Kivhar...I realized that I couldn't lose you too. I was willing to risk your not returning my feelings. It's crazy I know, but I almost lost Michael and I couldn't lose anyone else. Especially you Isabel." "Max," Isabel cried in relief as she clung to him. Turning his head, her lips were so near his that he couldn't hold back anymore, and he leaned down and took her mouth with his, sucking her bottom lip between his two, searching with his tongue when she opened her mouth to him. Breaking the kiss, he kissed her brow and cheek. "Mmmax...I've waited so long for you to love me. To say the words..." she began. "I love you Isabel. I love you so much" he said as he took her face in his hands and again kissed her, this time more deeply than before as his tongue ravaged the inside of her mouth. Suddenly his hands were in her hair, his fingers weaving themselves between the silken strands. His mouth left hers to seek out her neck and throat, her head thrown back allowing him better access. He could her purr deep down inside. "Isabel..." he breathed heavily. "Max..." she whispered. "We can't do this here..not now...I don't want you to think that this is all I want from you," he said. "I know it's not all Max. And I don't care if it is now or later as long it is with you," she replied "Isabel I need..." "Me too," she replied knowingly. "Are you sure?" he asked her not wanting her to have regrets later. "It's what I've wanted for so long Max," she said as her hands began to roam his chest. His hands went inside her jacket and caressed a swelling globe threw her sweater. "Ohhh Max..." she moaned as his hands began to mold and kneed her breasts. "Is..." he breathed against her neck resigned to what they were going to do here now. Taking off his jacket and hers, Max spread them on the ground beneath her, and then lay beside her. "You can stop this now Isabel." "No...I don't want to stop it Max...I only want it to go on," she said as she pulled him down to her. Raising her sweater above her head, Max divested her of it quickly. She shivered. "You're cold," he said as he pulled her to him. "I won't be for long. I have you to keep me warm," she reassurred him. She helped him off with his shirt and ran her hands over his muscular chest and arms, kissing his chest with little kisses. He shivered. You're cold now," she said softly. "No...not cold...feeling pleasure," he responded with a sigh. Smiling she lightly ran her hands over his ribs and down to his waist. Max reached for the straps of her bra and pulled them down, kissing the tops of her rounded breasts as he went. Reaching behind her he unhooked her bra and pulled it from her. Gazing down at her he said,"You are so beautiful." "Make love to me Max," she begged. Max bent and took a breast in his mouth and began to suck at the nipple, widening his mouth as he tried to get as much of her inside as he could. Her moans were like music to him. Switching sides he laved the hard nipple and area around it until she arched to him. His kisses and kneedings soon turned to lower areas as Max kissed her belly while his hands undid her pants and pushed them down revealing her cotton panties already wet with her need for him. He could smell her desire and it made him harder than he already had been, his ache growing at knowing how much she wanted him. He traced patterns on her panties around her mound, the sensation driving her crazy as he came to but didn't touch her opening. "Maxxxx...don't tease," she begged. Removing his hands, he stood up and took off his pants and then looking down at her, he removed his boxers waiting for her reaction to him. Isabel watched Max take off his pants and held her breath as he removed his boxers, his member springing free and proud. She released her breath and made and 'O' with her mouth before licking her lips in anticipation. Max came to lay back down beside her and she took him hesitantly in her hands, smiling at his sharp intake of breath at her touch on him. "Oh yesssss," he sighed as he closed his eyes, enjoying her hands on him as she discovered his body. Isabel thought the long, thick shaft and bulbous head with its precum beautiful. She ran her finger along the shaft and felt its silky softness. She marveled at how it grew as she began to slowly pump the organ in her hands. "Oh Isabellll...oohhhhh yessss," he moaned as her touch sent him to shivering. Suddenly he grabbed her hand and stopped her. "What?" she asked. "Stop...I'll come if you don't. I don't want to yet...not yet," he told her threw clinched teeth. "Now you," he said as he slid his hand inside her panties and slipped a finger along and inside her slit, sending her hips off the ground. A gasp of pleasure escaped her as he caressed her throbbing nub with her slick juices, delving his fingers deep inside of her, pressing his hand against her mound. Removing his hand, Max took off her wet panties and opened her legs. Climbing between them, his member poked her opening seeking entrance to her tight passage. Kissing her deeply Max began to puch inside of her stopping a second when he hit her barrier before pushing threw and making her his. Her nails dug into his back at the pain she had when he took her viginity, but soon it eased as did her nails on him. Max looked down into her eyes. "I'm sorry." "Don't be sorry, I'm not" she said. Max began to move in her, his strokes strong and sure yet gentle. He helped her to move with a rhythum that continued to grow with speed as he carried her to the edge of her orgasm and then pushed her over before following her with his own. The pleasure was so great that neither thought they could withstand its intensity as they clung to each other while wave after continuous wave rolled over them before finally sending them crashing back down to Earth. "Is... it... always... like that?" she gasped struggling to breathe. "N...no...never! I didn't experience that with..." he stopped as he realized what he had almost said, and looked down at her with regret in his eyes at ruining this moment for her. She touched his face and said,"Max, she is always going to be here. She is the mother of your son. I'm not stupid enough to pretend like you've never had sex before. But knowing that you didn't experience that great of pleasure with her, well I can live with that." Max kissed her and pulled her closer to him. "It was amazing Isabel! You are amazing...and I'm not just saying that," he hastened to add. "I hope we always feel like that." "Me too Max," she smiled. "Isabel, let's go home." Nodding, they sat up and began to dress. As they picked up there jackets and put them on , Isabel knelt by Alex's grave. "Do you think he knows? I mean that I'm okay now," she asked. Joining her and taking her hand in his, Max nodded. "He knows Isabel and he would be happy for you...for us. He would not be happy to know that you are like this all the time. Promise me you will talk to me when you have these feelings of guilt. Feelings you shouldn't have because his death was Tess's fault not yours." Isabel nodded as she brought his hand up to her lips and kissed it before rubbing her cheek on it. "I promise Max." Helping her up they started to the jeep when he stopped. "I'll be right back." He headed back to the grave and knelt down and said, "I promise to take care of her Alex. Rest easy that she is not alone and that she is loved like you loved her." Standing up he went back to where she waited and put his arm around her as they walked to the jeep and got in. "What will everyone say about us Max?" she asked. "I don't care Isabel. All I care about is that I have found I love you and that you love me too." "Max we have to care...they may not understand." "All I care about is now..this minute with you. The rest can wait for tomorrow," he answered. "Until tomorrow," she agreed as he started the jeep and headed for home. End
