Dedicated to In Crowders and Diosa. ********** Kyle... Kyle stretched his arms over his head and yawned. He hadn't slept that good since before Tess left. All the stresses in his life had been pushed aside last night and he had finally gotten a decent nights rest. Rolling off the bed, Kyle did his morning push ups and jumped to his feet. Looking down he wondered when he had lost his boxers. Then he saw her. Curled on her side, the sheet covered her waist, but left her full breasts bare to his gaze. She was sleeping peacefully, her lips barely parted in a slight smile as if having a pleasant dream. Isabel. Kyle's mouth dropped open. What the hell had he done? Isabel... Isabel's dream of making love with Kyle was so erotic that her body began to react causing her to awaken in alarm. Once her eyes opened she realized it had not all been a dream. She was naked in Kyle's bed...and he was standing there naked looking down at her in shock. Grabbing the sheet to cover herself, Isabel avoided looking at Kyle as he quickly covered himself with a pillow. "This is real! This is really happening," whispered Isabel with growing panic. "What are you doing in my bed?" Kyle asked her, his voice going up an octave. "I--I don't know," stammered Isabel looking up at Kyle. "I-I need to get dressed," she said hurriedly as she peered over the top of the sheet for her clothes. Kyle looked around the room and his eyes landed on her clothes near the door and into the hall. "Uh, I see your stuff by the door and into the hall. Want me to get them for you?" he asked her. "NO! No...just stay where you are," she said quickly as she gathered the sheet around her. "Isabel...do you..do you think we...you know...really...?" asked Kyle curiously. Isabel looked away, her skin heating up in embarrassment at the question. "I--I don't know." Getting up she started for the door when the sheet caught on the mattress and wouldn't let her go. Turning to gather it to her, she glanced up and paused at the look on Kyle's face. Following his gaze, Isabel saw the blood stains on the sheet. Her blood. She felt ill. What had she done? Kyle... Kyle stared at the stained sheet and then looked at Isabel. "I guess that answers that question. Are...are you okay?" he asked softly, his concern for her evident on his face and in his tone. "I--I need...I need a shower," said Isabel in shock as she turned shaking towards the door. Stopping she said over her shoulder, "I'm okay Kyle...thanks." Then she went down the hall to the bathroom and closed the door. Kyle let the pillow drop and pulled on his discarded boxers that he found on the chair. Rubbing his face, Kyle turned towards his dresser and let his hands drop. Then his mouth fell open as he stared at a piece of paper stuck in the right hand corner of the mirror. Moving closer and then grabbing the paper, Kyle's heart began to race and his stomach to roll. "Oh shit! No freaking way!," he said as he looked from the paper in his hands to his reflection in the mirror. "Buddha help me, I'm a dead man?" Isabel.... Isabel let the water run over her shaking body as she washed herself and tried to comprehend that she had slept with Kyle. She had dreamed of some sort of relationship with Kyle, but never dared to think that anything would happen because of who she was, so it had stayed just that...a dream. Until now. What had happened last night? She had gone with Kyle and the others to a large party being held at a house large enough for several types of activities to go on at once. Once they had arrived Max and Liz, and Michael and Maria had gone off on their own leaving Kyle and Isabel to themselves. The host had hired a hypnotist as entertainment in one of the rooms that Kyle and Isabel had ended up in. The crowd was large in this room as the man was very good. Isabel remembered that at one point the man had come into the audience and procured people to hypnotize. Kyle had been chosen and he had done the stupidest things like trying to belly dance and singing like a rock star. Isabel had laughed along with everyone else until she had been chosen. With some hesitation Isabel had gone along at the crowds urging. She remembered telling the man it was a waste of time trying to hypnotize her and then going to sit down when he failed in his attempt to prove her wrong. But after that she was blank. Turning off the water, Isabel dried off put her clothes on. Turning to the mirror, she brushed her hair out of her face and used Kyle's toothbrush to brush her teeth. She had hesitated on that, but came to the conclusion that he wouldn't mind, and she preferred using his toothbrush to not having a clean mouth. She hated morning breath. She returned the toothbrush to its holder and grabbed Kyle's brush, running it quickly threw her hair. Isabel paused briefly as she realized just how intimate and personal the items were, and blushed as she put them back and turned towards the door, taking a deep breath before heading back to Kyle's room. Kyle... Kyle sat dressed in his chair as the door opened. He quickly stood up as Isabel entered the room. "Feel better?" he asked her. Nodding Isabel noticed Kyle had removed the sheet and remade the bed. "We've got to talk Isabel," said Kyle as he tried to decide how to tell her about what he had found. "Can we do it in the other room?" asked Isabel as she avoided the bed. "What? Oh yeah, sure," said Kyle readily. After they were settled Kyle asked if Isabel was hungry. "Quit stalling," he told himself. Finally he said, "Isabel, we may have a problem." "You think," said Isabel wryly. "I mean besides 'that'," he said. "What else?" she asked with dread. Kyle pulled out the paper and held it out. "I found this on the mirror," he told her. Taking it Isabel read it and reread it, her eyes and mouth getting bigger and bigger as the words sank in. "Married? We're married?" she asked disbelievingly. "This has to be joke! One of those brainless friends of yours did this as a joke right? Right?" she asked with panic in her voice. Kyle looked at her and shook his head. "The only friends I really have anymore are you guys since Max healed me. I think it's real Isabel," Kyle said still trying believe it himself. ******* A knock on the door, followed by a hard pounding, and the slamming of said door against the wall alerted them to Max and Michael. "Hey, watch it!" said Kyle before he remembered he wanted to live and might not after these two aliens found out about what he had done. "There you are!" said Max with relief as he saw Isabel with Kyle. "He didn't touch you did he?" asked Michael as he eyed Kyle. "What...what are you doing here?" asked Isabel nervously. "We heard this crazy rumor that you two were hypnotized last night at the party and may have ..." said Max. "...gotten married," finished Michael. Isabel and Kyle looked at one another before Isabel handed Max the paper. Max read the paper with dismay before he handed it to Michael who swore loudly. "What the hell were you thinking Isabel? How could you let yourself be hypnotized?" demanded Michael. "You could have told about us and then it would all be over!" "I wasn't thinking about that," said Isabel guiltily. "I can't believe you actually got married," said Max shaking his head. "We didn't know until this morning," said Kyle hoping the aliens understood the situation was not his or Isabel's fault. "You didn't consulate did you?" asked Max looking at them. When they looked away, Michael rolled his eyes and said, "Of course they did. This is just great!" "You're sure you two...?" asked Max uncomfortabley. He was not thrilled needing to know about Isabel's sex life. "Well we don't remember doing it, but the...evidence was there," said Kyle trying to be delicate to spare Isabel who had closed her eyes in embarrassment. "We'll have your Dad get it annulled anyway. Simple," said Michael as if they would solve everything. "We want to know how this happened," said Isabel quietly. Max and Michael sat down and Max related what he knew. "When we couldn't find you, we were going to head to the car, but we were told we had missed a great show by you and Kyle. Seems the hypnotist did hypnotism both of you, and after Isabel returned to her chair he asked Kyle to describe what would make him happy in life. Without hesitation Kyle said a good woman to love and who would love him back." Kyle looked away as Max said this. That had always been his dream, exactly as Max had described it. To find a woman who would love him. Glancing at Kyle he said, "The hypnotist asked if that woman was in the room and Kyle said yes. He was asked what he would do if could say anything to her." Pausing Max then said, "Kyle said he would tell her he loved her and wanted to marry her." Isabel's mouth fell open as she looked at Kyle who wouldn't look her way. "So he sent Kyle out into the audience and he went to you Isabel and said those very things. You immediately said yes and fell into a passionate kiss," said Max as he waited for her reaction. Isabel closed her eyes and bit her lip at the new information. "They said you ran out saying something about getting married," said Michael disgustedly. "We've looked all night hoping it wasn't true," said Max. "I guess we're too late." "I can't believe we don't remember any of that," said Kyle as he chewed his thumb nail. "The guy gave us a code word to use so you would remember...that is he did after I threatened his life for doing such a stupid trick," said Michael. "Why didn't he do it last night?" asked Isabel. "He said you two were gone so fast he didn't have a chance. I think he's afraid you're going to sue." "You can do this? He doesn't have to?" asked Kyle trying to get it straight in his head. "He said we could," said Max as he stood up and took a small piece of paper from his back pocket. "Ready?" he asked them. At their nod, Max said, "Um the code is unusual so..." "Just get on with it Max!" said Isabel fidgeting. "Right...right. Here goes...'Aliens Are Among Us'," said Max. Isabel and Kyle's heads immediately dropped as they fell into a trance. "If that guy only knew," said Michael under his breath as Max snapped his fingers 3 times and Isabel and Kyle slightly shook there heads and opened their eyes. They took one look at one another and remembered everything. "Oh my gawd!" said Isabel as her hands flew to her quickly heating face. "Oh man!" said Kyle as everything leading up to now flew through his head. "Okay, now let's get this puppy annulled," said Michael standing up. "I don't think it's that easy Michael," said Max as he observed Isabel and Kyle. "Of course it is! No one need know they slept together so that will be that," said Michael as if that really was all there was to it. "No Michael that is not it. The hypnotist said he can only make suggestions, but that the actors in the hypnotism follow what is in their hearts ...their own will. He can't make them do what they don't want to do," said Max as he sat down next to Isabel and put his hand on the back of her neck. "You're saying they really love each other and want to be married? That's crap Max!" said Michael as he stood there staring down at them. "Isabel?" asked Max. "What do you want to do?" Isabel looked up at Kyle and said, "I don't know." Kyle got up and walked over to Isabel and said, "Would you two let me talk to Isabel alone please?" "What for? We're getting this annulled so no discussion is necessary," said Michael as he crossed his arms and dared Kyle to object. "Kyle it may be better if Michael and I were here," said Max. "She's my wife Max. Are you saying I can't be alone with my own wife?" asked Kyle seriously. "She's not your wife," said Michael. "Oh really. Well I have a piece of paper that says otherwise, so unless you plan on using your powers on me to keep me from her, I'm going to talk to my wife," said Kyle standing up to Michael. Max started to say something else, but instead he nodded and stood up. "We'll be outside," he said as Michael gave Max a look of consternation. When the two aliens had gone outside, Kyle sat down next to Isabel and said, "Isabel, I'm sorry I got us into this. This whole thing wouldn't have happened if I hadn't suggested we go in and watch that guy. There's nothing I can say to make it right, except I'm sorry." Isabel nodded as she sighed. "Kyle, this is just as much my fault as it is yours. I should have said no when he asked to hypnotism me. I didn't. So don't go blaming all of this on yourself," said Isabel. "So what are we going to do? This whole marriage thing...I never thought I'd get married and to an alien at that," said Kyle. "My parents never got it right, but I'm willing to try," said Kyle hoping Isabel would want to as well. He never thought he would fall for Isabel Evans of all people. She had seemed above all of them in school even though they had run in the same circles, and then when he had found out she was an alien and royalty to boot, well you can't help who you fall in love with. Isabel stood up and moved away from Kyle. "Kyle, I don't think staying married is best for us," said Isabel. "What? But why not?" he asked her disappointed. Isabel got up and walked over to the table and picked up an apple, rolling it between her hands with out any thought. "I don't have the best history with men here or up there," said Isabel. I don't want anything bad to happen to you." Well at least she cares what happens to me, thought Kyle. "I'm willing to take my chances," said Kyle getting up and going over to her. "I'm not," said Isabel looking up at him. "Don't you think that should be up to me?" asked Kyle. Isabel didn't want Kyle hurt, but she knew she had to hurt him to keep him safe. So she lied to him. "I don't love you Kyle. I don't want to be stuck in a marriage with someone I don't love just because I did something stupid and slept with him," said Isabel, the words stabbing at her heart as she said them. If she had hit him with a sledge hammer it couldn't have hurt more. "Well, I wouldn't want you stuck with someone you didn't love. I mean, it's the same here, I don't love you either and it would be silly I guess to stay in something neither of us wanted in the first place," said Kyle trying to act as if he didn't care. Isabel saw the hurt before Kyle could hide it away and she was devastated. But she had to keep him safe and if this was how she had to do it, then so be it. "I'm glad you see it the same way then. I'll get my Dad to get us an annulment if he can instead of a divorce. That is after I do some heavy explaining," said Isabel as she headed for the door. "Yeah, right that would be great," said Kyle as he followed her to the door. Opening the door, they found Max and Michael outside waiting. "Well?" asked Max looking at them. "We agreed that being married is not right for us," said Isabel quietly. "Yeah...who wants to be tied down to someone you don't love," said Kyle looking away. "Yeah," said Isabel also looking away. Max and Michael exchanged looks and then Max said, "So everything is settled?" "It looks settled to me Maxwell. Let's go," said Michael as he led Isabel away. Max turned to Kyle and said, "You okay Kyle?" Kyle looked at him and asked, "Do you really care?" "Yes I do. You've turned out to be a really good guy Kyle and a good friend to Isabel. I know we've caused your family a lot of pain and problems and this is just another one. So yes, I care," said Max sincerely. Kyle nodded. "Well then Max, no I'm not okay. But then where you aliens are concerned I'm never okay. I really thought Isabel was different, but I guess not. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go and find out how the other teens deal with annulments and divorces." And with that Kyle closed the door. Max stood there just a moment longer and contemplated Kyle's words and the look on his face as Kyle had watched Isabel walk away. ********* Several days later.... "When are you getting up Isabel?" asked Max as he looked down on the lumpy form on her bed. "Never," said Isabel from under the covers of her bed. "Don't you think this has gone on long enough?" asked Max as he pulled at the blankets until Isabel was laying there uncovered. "I don't know Max, how long does it take to get over having your heart broken?" asked Isabel as she reached for the blankets again. "Your heart isn't broken," reminded Max as he pulled the covers off the bed. "Kyle's is, and I did it to him. I broke his heart," said Isabel sadly as she quit fighting Max for the covers. How could she tell him her heart was breaking just as much as Kyle's? "He'll get over it," said Max gently as he sat on the edge of her bed. "What if he doesn't? I mean it hurts to have someone tell you that they don't love you. The pain is intense and you don't know if you will ever find anyone to love as much as you love that person again. It just seems like your world has ended," said Isabel describing her own pain. Max regarded her carefully. "Isabel, is there something you want to tell me?" "Noooo, why?" she asked despondently. Max sat up straight as he realized what she wasn't saying. "You love him...you love Kyle," said Max as eyed her for her reaction. Isabel moved the pillow until it was over her face. Max pulled it off and saw trails where tears had been. "Isabel," said Max with sympathy and some confusion. Isabel sat up and clutched at Max as she cried into his neck. "Why didn't you tell him Isabel? Why get Dad to try for an annulment if you love him? I know Kyle has feelings for you," said Max as he stroked her back. "I didn't want to chance his being hurt by aliens like the others Max. How could I do that to him?" sobbed Isabel. "Isabel, those just happened, they weren't your fault. Kyle loves you, I know he does. Why get an annulment? I'm sure Dad can get the proceedings stopped," said Max. "Max, Dad was so angry I let this happen to begin with that he might not. How do I say, 'Oh Dad can we just skip the annulment? I really love Kyle and want to stay married.' He would kill me Max," said Isabel sniffing as she grabbed a tissue from her night stand. "He would want you to be happy Isabel. Go down there now and tell him. You'll see, he will understand," said Max as he pulled Isabel to her feet. ******** "Isabel that is the craziest thing I think I have ever heard you say!" said a shocked Phillip Evans to his daughter after she had revealed to him that she wanted to stay married to Kyle. "Isabel honey, I think what your father is saying is that it you are young and staying married to Kyle Valenti would just be wrong. You have your whole life ahead of you, why waste it on the Sheriff's son whom we've barely even heard you mention?" said Diane as she tried to reason with her daughter. "I love him," said Isabel trying to make them understand. "Why can't I stay married just because I love him?" "You said you didn't...huh...consummate the marriage Isabel, that was the truth wasn't it? You're not pregnant are you?" asked Phillip carefully. Isabel had lied to her parents so the annulment would go through, now she would have to tell them the truth and disappoint them again. "Well...we didn't know until the next morning that we had slept together," said Isabel. And then she quickly added at their horrified looks, "But I'm not pregnant! At least I don't think I am," she said as she realized she had never considered that possibility. "This just keeps getting worse and worse," said Diane as she sank down into a chair. "What if Kyle doesn't want to be married?" asked Phillip. "What then? Have you thought about that?" Isabel had thought about that and decided to do whatever she could to change Kyle's mind. "He will want to stay married...I'm sure of it. Just stop the proceedings Daddy...please?" begged Isabel prettily to her father. Looking at Diane and then back to Isabel, Phillip said, "Only if Kyle agrees Isabel. I won't be a party to tricking him or forcing him...unless there is a child. If a child is involved then we have a whole other ball game." "Thank you Daddy!" said Isabel as she hugged her father and went up to her room. Now to convince Kyle they should be together. ******** Isabel knocked on Kyle's door and waited for him to open the door. What if he said no? She would die. She should have dream walked him to see where he really stood on this. After all she was only going on what Max had told her, her feelings, and Kyle's devastated look when she said she wouldn't stay married to him. Kyle opened the door and stared at Isabel. "Come to have me sign papers already? You sure work fast when you don't want to stay married," said Kyle secretly glad to see Isabel for whatever reason. Isabel's heart skipped a beat at seeing Kyle, but recovering quickly she said, "Kyle, I've come to ask you something. Can we talk?" After a moments consideration, Kyle nodded and let her in. "So talk," said Kyle as he sat down and waited for her to speak. "Yes, well I've been thinking, maybe staying married to you wouldn't be a bad thing!" said Isabel all upbeat and smiling to win Kyle over. Kyle sat back and crossed his arms as he said, "Really? And what made you come to that conclusion?" he asked her curiously. "What?" asked Isabel stupidly. "What made you decide I'm husband material?" asked Kyle hiding his surprise at her words. But what had made her change her mind after she was so adamant they should not be married...and the fact that she didn't love him which still stung. Isabel stood there as if searching for the right words. And then she said the thing that should never have come out of her mouth. "I'm pregnant." Kyle's mouth dropped open and his arms fell to his sides in shock at her words. "What? But how...I mean I know how, but isn't it kinda soon to know?" asked Kyle as he stared at her stomach. Isabel couldn't believe what she had just said. She had not meant to say it, but it seemed to come out of its own accord. Now she had to make it right or he would hate her forever for trapping him. "Alien bodies are quick with reproduction...and...well," said Isabel lamely. Kyle sat, his hands dropped down between his knees limp. "I'm going to be a Dad." Isabel sat across from him and said, "Kyle look, I may have spoken a bit soon. There may not be any reason to worry about a baby, but what if I am? I mean we did have sex and Tess got pregnant immediately so why not me? Right?" "Yeah...yeah... Wow! A baby," said Kyle looking up at her smiling. He looked so happy. "Kyle did you hear what I said? There may not be a baby. It's just precautionary you know," said Isabel wishing she hadn't said anything, but after her Dad had mentioned it, well it sort of stuck in her head. Then Kyle asked, "Didn't Tess know like that night that she was pregnant? How come you don't know yet?" Isabel frowned. She hadn't thought of that. Maybe she wasn't pregnant. Or maybe she couldn't get pregnant with a humans child. That depressed her. She would like to have a child with Kyle "Maybe human/alien pregnancies take longer," said Isabel with hope. "Anyway, I think we should stay married and since you agree we need to decide what to do next." "You'll move in here with us. Well until we figure out what to do next," said Kyle. "Move in here with you and your Dad?" asked Isabel not sure she would like living with Kyle's Dad. "I thought it would just be the two of us," said Isabel. "Well until we know what's what we have stay here. Why is there a problem?" asked Kyle. "No...no problem," said Isabel shaking her head. So much for romance thought Isabel. "Have you told your dad yet...you know...about what happened?" asked Isabel. "No. Didn't see any reason to, but now well I guess I'll have to," said Kyle trying to think of what to tell his dad. ******** "What?" said Jim Valenti as he stared at his son. He had just come off of a gig with 'Kit Shickers' his band, and he was tired. The last thing he had expected was his son to tell him he was married and to Isabel their alien friend. "You heard me Dad. I'm married to Isabel and have been for about a week. She is moving in here tomorrow with us....and oh, there is one more thing. We might be having a baby. Well, night," said Kyle as he headed quickly to his room. Jim sat there staring straight ahead wishing he hadn't come home. ******* "So you and Kyle decided to give it a go huh?" asked Max as he watched Isabel pack a few things. "Why Isabel? He's human!" said Michael from his spot by the window in Isabel's room. "I love him Michael. You love Maria and Max loves Liz, why can't I love Kyle?" Isabel asked him. "We're not marrying them!" said Michael getting up and pacing. "So you're saying you may never marry them? You are just stringing them along? Well that's really nice Michael. I'm sure Maria will love you for that later on," said Isabel shaking her head. "So you told Kyle you love him?" asked Max. Isabel didn't say anything as she moved about her room collecting things to take with her. Max and Michael exchanged looks. "Isabel? You did tell him didn't you?" asked Max. "Not..not exactly," said Isabel low. "Not exactly? Well what exactly did you tell Kyle to get him to agree to stay married?" asked Michael studying her. Isabel mumbled something and Max and Michael looked at one another before Michael asked, "What?" "I told him I might be pregnant and we needed to stay married," said Isabel as she waited for the shoe to drop. She didn't have long to wait. "You didn't!" asked Max shocked that Isabel would do that. "I can't believe you would do that Isabel," said Michael staring at her. "I told him I didn't know for sure, but there was always the possibility since we had...done it...and as far as we know we didn't use protection. So it just seems..." explained Isabel, but Michael interrupted her. "So you tricked him." "Not intentional! And maybe I am who knows," said Isabel defensively. "Isabel, why didn't you just tell him you love him?" asked Max. With tears in her eyes, Isabel said, "Because he might not love me back. I love him Max and I don't want to lose him." "Great start with your marriage Isabel," said Michael feeling some pity for her. "Well what would you have had me do?" asked Isabel sitting on her bed. "Tell him the truth like I suggested before," said Max. "And if he doesn't want me?" asked Isabel. "Then he wasn't worth having," said Michael rubbing her back. "Only to me he is," said Isabel wiping her tears. ********* Jim, Kyle, and Isabel sat at the dining table in awkward silence. All were very aware that this was the first real night of marriage for Kyle and Isabel and they were nervous. Finally Jim said, "So, that was a good meal Isabel. Did you cook it yourself?" Isabel looked pleased as she answered, "Yes I did! Thanks!" "Didn't know you cooked, I thought maybe you just...( he wriggled his fingers)...and it happened," said Jim. Shaking her head Isabel said, "No...no zapping. It was all me." Kyle noticed how lit up Isabel had been at being praised for cooking the meal on her own and said, "Well I look forward to your cooking more often. Dad and I are passable, but that was really great...really...great." "Thanks Kyle," smiled Isabel. Getting up she said, "You know I'm just going to do these dishes and get ready for bed." "I'll help you!" said Kyle jumping up and grabbing dishes off the table. "You don't have to Kyle, I can do it," Isabel told him. "I want to help," said Kyle meaning it. Jim watched the two acting skittish around one another and said, "I'm going to go out tonight. The 'Kit Shickers' have the night off and were looking for some fun. You two have fun...er...well you know what I mean." "Night Dad," said Kyle greatfully. "Night Sheriff," said Isabel smiling gently at him in appreciation. They finished the dishes in silence and Isabel headed to the bathroom to get ready for bed while Kyle used his father's in his room. On return to his bedroom, Kyle turned down the bed and went to wait in the chair by his desk. Isabel walked in and Kyle rose slowly, his eyes roaming over her. "Wow!" he said appreciatively of Isabel. She was dressed in a short red nighty that plunged low showing off her full breasts and long slender legs. "Thanks," Isabel said smiling nervously. "You look 'wow' too," she said of Kyle's tanned muscular physique that was set off by the white and dark blue boxers. "Want to ...?" asked Kyle as he indicated the bed. Looking at the bed, Isabel nodded and said, "Oh okay." They sat on the bed not touching and Kyle said, "Want to lay down?" "Yeah okay," said Isabel softly as she lay down beside Kyle. Kyle tented his fingers over his chest as he asked, "Do you feel married?" "No. Do you?" asked Isabel looking at him sideways. "No, I don't. Why is that?" he asked her. "I don't know." "Have you been sick any?" he asked her concerned as he searched for something to say. Shaking her head, Isabel said, "Kyle, I may not be pregnant. Tess knew within hours and it's been almost two weeks now. Would you be...I mean that is the reason we decided to stay married...because we thought I might be pregnant." She was afraid to know. What if he said no baby, no marriage? Kyle was disappointed, but said, "Well I kinda liked the thought of a little you or me running around." Isabel couldn't stand it anymore. She knew the reason she wasn't feeling married is because she hadn't told Kyle the truth. They had to have a marriage built on truth. Getting up she said, "Kyle, I lied to you." Kyle sat up slowly and asked, "What? What about?" "I knew there wasn't a baby." "What?" he asked her confused. "You knew? Then what was all of the 'We have to stay married because I might be pregnant' thing all about?" "I didn't want to lose you," she said very quietly, tears of shame falling down her cheeks. "I'm sorry I tricked you," she whispered as she wiped at the tears. Kyle stared at her and then asked, "Why Isabel? Why would you lie to me about something like that?" Turning her back to him, she said tearfully,"I love you and was afraid you wouldn't want to stay married to me after all I had said." Kyle began to smile at her words and it grew bigger with each one. "You love me?" Nodding her head, Isabel grabbed at the tissues on Kyle's dresser and blew loudly. "I know it was foolish, but I had made such a big deal about us not being together because of me being an alien and I really wanted to, but then you said you didn't love me either when I said that so you wouldn't want me and..." she rushed out the words. "Isabel slow down," said Kyle as he took her in his arms and drew her to him. "It's okay. I'm just sorry you thought you had to lie about a baby instead of telling me you loved me to begin with," Kyle told her. "So you aren't mad?" she asked. "I love you Isabel, and the fact you told finally told me the truth tells me you really do love me too." "Kyle, what if there never is a baby? What if we can't have a baby together?" asked Isabel devastated at the thought. "Then we have each other," said Kyle also sad at the possibility that they may never have kids together, but he would never let her know that. "Well you know it could be fun trying. Just think of it Isabel, hours and hours of trying," said Kyle with a contented sigh as he held her close. Isabel smiled in relief at his words. He loved her, and he still wanted to be married to her even if they didn't have kids. "Can we start trying Kyle?" she asked him snuggling his neck and drawing a line down his chest with her fingertip. "Oh Buddha help me, but this is going to be fun," said Kyle as he fell on the bed with his wife and made love to her. End
