| WELCOME - This is my weight-loss adventure started January 2002 update January 2003 at the bottom This is NOT a "diet" in the common sense of the term. This is a way of eating that you can adopt and LIVE with forever! I've adapted 2 different weight-loss plans into a way of eating that pleases me and is shedding pounds. You don't have to "count" anything you eat. How many calories do you eat? How many grams of fat? Protein? Measure and weigh foods? NO! NO! NO! If God made it, and man hasn't 'messed' with it, you can eat it! I started out losing between 2 and 4 pounds a week with absolutley NO HUNGER! In 7 months, my weight is still going down...very slowly...but i haven't had any 'up' readings since i started and i now weigh-in every 2 weeks. I still eat ice cream almost every day! Chocolate too! read on... Do it for your HEALTH, Do it for Life! I began by reading the book "God's Diet" by Dorothy Gault-McNemee, M.D. The first chapter of this book really explains the whole thing. This book was easy reading and just plain made a lot of sense... BUT There were many foods that I dearly loved to eat, that she recommended I never eat again! I'm sorry but I just can't live with that! Then I came across an article by Teresa Tapp. She explained a method of eating where you ate God-made carbohydrates for 3 days, then man-made ones for 1 day, then God-made again for 3 days, etc. Ok, this is doable...every 4th day you can eat whatever you want. By God-made carbohydrates, she means the good carbohydrates you find in fruits and vegetables....things that man hasn't processed. Man-made carbohydrates include all breads, all pasta, all sweets. Now I have adapted the 2 diets together and found a workable formula that I can live with. This is how I started out. You will have to experiment and find what works for you. I picked this schedule because it fit nicely into my work week. I ate GM (God made) on Monday's and Tuesday's. I ate GM on Wednesday's up until supper. I ate GM on Thursday's and Friday's. I ate pretty much whatever I want on the weekends...but try not to "overload" on the man-made carbs. Now Teresa's plan says to go 3 days GM, 1 day MM for a month, then go 2 days GM, 1 day MM until you lose all you want to lose. When the extra weight is off you can do MM every other day and you will not gain back the weight. MY RULES This is a biggie! YOU NEVER BLOW A WHOLE DAY! If you ate something you shouldn't have on a GM day, you only blew a MINUTE and you are right back on track! NEVER FORGET THIS! Sometimes you only need a bite or two of something MM on a GM day and you are right back on track! That bite or two will probably not even be noticed, so keep it small! Throw out everything you have that says "Low Fat" and "Fat Free". These things are just loaded with carbs and sugars and will only make you crave more of the kind! DO NOT limit yourself on portions! That is "dieting" and your body will resist if you leave yourself hungry. Most "diets" tell you you can have 6 ozs of chicken or steak or whatever...EAT WHAT YOU WANT! If you want a 12 oz steak then EAT IT! This is what I eat in a typical day: There are hundreds of ways you can arrange your day. You have to find foods YOU like! 5 AM - 2 cups coffee with cream 7 AM - 2-egg omelet with cheese and either bacon, ham, or broccoli. OR long cooking oatmeal made with milk. I then add butter, honey & raisins. 10 AM snack IF I'm hungry - banana, or orange, or cup of green tea, or a handful of pork rinds, or some frozen green peas. NOON - large tossed salad with either meatballs or a can of tuna mixed in. I use Hidden valley Ranch dressing, but you can use any dressing that only has 1 or 2 carbs/serving. (NO LOW FAT!) 3 PM snack IF I'm hungry - (see 10 AM) 6 PM supper - chicken, pork, beef (some kind of meat), tossed salad, and 2 veggies. 8 PM - IF I've been good all day and IF I'm hungry...I will have 1 scoop of ice cream OR a hershey's kiss or two. Take your weight, divide by 2, and that is how many ounces of water you should be drinking every day! UPDATE: I have started becoming more UN-structured in my daily eating. I am now eating GM as much as possible, but if I have a meal somewhere that is MM, I eat it, enjoy it, and don't sweat it! I have now lost cravings for a lot of the 'flour based' sweets, such as cookies, cakes, etc. Don't miss them. Most of my sweets I consume come from ice cream, chocolate and pie. If I can do GM most of my day, and allow 1 MM treat every day, it doesn't seem to hurt me any. At least I know when all the extra weight is off, I won't have to "go off" anything...because my eating habits have changed! If you have any questions feel free to email me...just be sure to put "GM/MM" or "eating info" in the subject line so I won't delete it. Bookmark this site and return. I will update it regularly and will add recipe's that are GM. Check out this message board! EATING GOD's WAY thanks for visiting! Lori [email protected] JANUARY 2003 a new chapter in my life :) last year i lost 35 pounds the above way and kept it off for the whole year. this year i'm trying something a little differently. i read some about the "Weigh Down Workshop" program and i think i will try that approach using God-made foods. to see what that is about click HERE i'll add more to this later :) |
