Bonfire 1998

Since 1909 Aggies have come together to build a bonfire right before the big game against t.u. (UT) to show our burning desire to "beat the hell" out of t.u.

The 1999 bonfire was a tragedy when 12 (12th man) students were killed in the collapse. After investigations and decisions, limitations were put on the bonfire such as:

It will be made in a teepee style
Students will not be able to cut (which is a big tradition)
Students can't work on it from midnight until sunrise.
They will only have 2 weeks to work on it!

There will be no bonfire in the year 2000 or 2001. If there is one, it will be in 2002.

This picture is the last massive multiple tiered bonfire that will ever be made at Texas A&M.
