Robyn Treyvaud - WCCE2001 Report

As well as the paper, poster and demonstration sessions, an exhibition of companies involved in providing ICT resources to educators was provided.

One exhibitor, University of Cambridge, UK, Local Examinations Syndicate, provided information about their Starter Awards in ICT. Each module in the
scheme concentrates on the development of practical skills in using ICT. At each stage of the scheme of assessment, students will use ICT to:

       Communicate
       Handle information
       Model
       Measure and control

The first level, initial steps, has 6 core modules while Next Steps and On Track have 6 core modules and 4 optional.
A reference guide for each module provides teachers with the prior knowledge students will require, new words they will learn and the suggested resources.
It is an extremely structured scheme that we could incorporate into our notebook program.
