My interest in technology began in 1978, after I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a B.A. in liberal arts/education. I returned to school while working as a computer programmer on Space Shuttle related projects in California, at Rockwell International Science Center. In 1985, I completed my B.S. in Computer Science, then moved to Ithaca, New York, where I worked as a Systems Analyst at Cornell University. Thus began my introduction into training and education, as I had the opportunity to train faculty, staff and students in the use of emerging technologies.

I continued to teach computer classes in the evening after the birth of my two children, two years apart, in 1989 and 1991.. It was then that I decided to combine my love of teaching with my background in technology, and persue a career in education. I began teaching full-time in a school setting when I moved back to the Washington, DC area in 1992, and now work as the Technology Coordinator at The Woods Academy, an independent (K-8) school in the Washington, DC suburb of Bethesda, Maryland. I wear many hats in this job! On any given day you can find me juggling network administration tasks on the file server, redesigning the school website, teaching emerging technologies to middle school students, training faculty and staff, and acting as a consultant to teachers on IT integration. I also manage the technology budget and write many grant proposals. One proposal this past year resulted in the opportunity to attend the WCCE2001 in beautiful Copenhagen!

In my 'spare' time, I am working toward a Master's degree in Instructional Technologies at Virginia Tech, a 100% online degree program. My classmates are from all around the nation! I have also been a 'life-long learner', and I expect to be taking and or teaching classes for the rest of my life! To relax, I enjoy going to the many museums in Washington, DC, attending concerts, reading, music, sketching, and walking in the woods with my old dog. As a former competitive equestrian, I hope to return to the sport day.
