| Chaplaincy Programme |
| The Chaplaincy Programme is one of the most important ministries in our school. It provides the necessary services for the faith development of both students and staff by facilitating the sacramental and pastoral needs of the school community. It also provides counsel, guidance and support, on an individual basis, for those who seek a deeper understanding of the religious journey. The focus and vision of the entire programme is to build Christian community and to celebrate faith. School Liturgies Liturgical worship is one of the essential elements at Loretto College to help our students' growth in knowledge, love and service of Jesus. There are several community masses during the year, and attendance at these is compulsory. During our penitential service, every student is given the opportunity of making a private confession and receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is taken for granted that all staff and students will enthusiastically participate in the liturgical life of the school. Retreats Our retreat programme is an integral part of Religious formation. It offers each student the opportunity for deeper reflection on her relationship with God and with one another. To further reinforce Christian values, and to encourage and guide our students in their faith development, Loretto College students are required to participate in our annual retreat programme. We are committed to our retreat programmes. It Is therefore important to make sure that they meet with success. Peer Ministry Peer Ministry is an important facet of the Chaplaincy Programme. All students are invited to join the ministry and to develop their gifts as altar servers, lectors, actors, leaders and as active participants in community service through food drives. Penitential Services During the Penitential Service celebrating the Sacraments of Reconciliation, each student is given the opportunity to make a private confession. Loretto College is committed to maintaining a strong Chaplaincy Programme. Community participation in the aforementioned areas will ensure that the programme continues to thrive successfully. Social Justice Through food drives, AIDS Awareness Week programs, retreats, volunteer work and academic studies, the Loretto student is encouraged to develop a commitment to fulfil Jesus' command to hear the cries of the poor and the oppressed in all aspects of life. |
