(1972) From 'Dear Dad' "I'm fine Frank" "That man's a beast...an animal" "Yeeeah, every bit of him!"
A lot can be said about these two:
"There was nothing going on...get off whatever drugs you're on. Those two hated each other"
"Good friends is all...anymore and everything would be screwed up"
"HELL YEAH THERE'S SOMETHING!"
We tend to agree with the latter...
Call us romantics at heart, but these two are THE CUTEST together. They are each other's strength,  but also their weakness. They hate each other, but care deeply for one another.  They are the complete opposites, which is why they are perfect for each other.
There is MUCH evidence of their mutual attraction. 'Comrades in Arms' & 'Goodbye Farewell and Amen'  are probably the two biggest episodes for them. CIA, because in terror they find comfort and GFA they say goodbye in the only way fitting.
Hawkeye constantly flirted with her, offering any ahem 'services' he could 'I.e, in The Colonel's Horse, he promises to probe her chassis every 100 miles.'
* "How about a kiss for the road" "Don't be ridiculous" "Then how about one for me?"

*(In Hawkeye's Will) To you, Margaret Houlihan, I leave my treasured Groucho nose and glasses.  Perhaps they will remind you of how much I enjoyed that silly side you show all too infrequently.
*"Respect. I expect nothing more and except nothing less."
*"I don't fall over, captain. Everything around here will be just fine if there's a little less leaning a lot more leadership. We need obedience. We need discipline, not this chaos. Doctors like you constantly out of uniform. Nurses who don't belong in uniform. Dogs running around loose in camp" "Dogs?" "They're getting run over by jeeps."
Alan and Loretta on the Stage 9 set...*I wonder what they're saying hmmmm*
