Marcia Lorenzato
Biographical Note

Born in Sao Paulo in 1960, with a twin. Having Italian and Portuguese grandparents, Marcia has
collected a wealth of experience about migration. Now in Qubec, she lived in So Paulo,
Brasilia, Brussels and Toronto.

She was raised in a coming and going context, seeing herself as a participant in a serious game
where there is an unending movement between proximity and distance, between attachment
and detachment. A game that brings nuanced perceptions of time and space, of the tradition, of
the memory and of encounters. From this context, she oscillates between relating with the world
and introspecting, being available to the movement of transformation and maintaining
constancy. Multiple experiences of breaking off and passages draw her a path with a constant
need for re-equilibration, desidentification and redefinition of values. She sees this movement as
the essence of life: an unending exercise of strenght, flexibility and resistance.

She is a Ph.D. candidate at the Universit du Qubec Montral, with Professor Jean-Philippe
Uzel as director. Her work looks into the building process of her own artworks.
