STARS FOR THE SENATE

Award winning journalist Loren Legarda is the most prominent broadcaster
on Channel 2, Manila's top television station. Her nightly newscast is
the nation's most popular show of its kind. She is running for senator
in the country's May election.
Legarda's chances are strong. If elected, she would become the Senate's youngest member and almost certainly a candidate for higher office - possibly vice president or even president. Given that half the population is under 30, her relative youth is a political asset.
