A Piece of My Mind...
well, if they can split the atom...
Summer is over...boo hoo!

Well, this summer just flew by and I only got to go swimming at the pool a very few times. It seemed by the time I really healed it was nearly 4th of July, then in a blur we had Steele Rubber Products Open House, the wedding shower for Valerie and Colin, the baby shower for MacKenzie and I enjoyed camp meeting at the tent my two sisters bought together recently. Rock Springs Campground is historic and has been going on for over a century. I didn't stay overnight there with them but I visited about 4 nights and took photos and videos there. Then it was down to Florida for the wedding! The wedding WAS beautiful and we enjoyed a visit with my Aunt Alice and her family while we were there. No time for much else however! I drove down to Lakeland with my sister-in-law (the mother of the groom), actually SHE drove, thank goodness. We made it in one day but were we tired. Nice hotel, though. Seems it's taking me almost as long to recover from the trip as it did to recover from surgery lol.

Now summer is over and it's kind of sad, but I'm trying to focus on the future. I have a lot of new clothes (I bought them for summer, but it stays so warm down here until Christmas that I can re-purpose many of them that don't look too summery). I was on a jewelry kick earlier this year and made a lot of earrings and bracelets to sell at a fall yard sale (if I ever get things ready). But haven't made much jewelry in the last month. My sister Kim visited for a few days and is flying back to Kentucky today. She stayed with me Sunday and Monday and another sister will pick her up today and drive her to the airport. She's ready to go home; she had a nice visit but "east, west, home is best".

My quest to organize my house is stalled at present. Jacki and I are at work on the Christmas and holiday decorations in the basement getting them ready to sell at the joint yard sale, but my guest room/crafts room is still unfinished. I will have to wait a while to work on that and my office because my money will be tied up in November with a hoped-for trip to Disney World with my sister-in-law and my youngest sister, Jacki and her kids. I spent a lot this year on the house and hope to do more but it will mostly wait now until 2009. I got the gutters cleaned and had some baffles put on to keep them clean; got a new roof; my water heater broke so I got a new water heater recently; a new toilet went into my master bath, too, plus I had the surgery. Luckily, it turned out that insurance covered much more than I thought it would on the surgery. I had to pay cash up front because the doctor's office said they could never get any insurance companies to pay for a tummy tuck, but guess what? I got money back from both the hospital and the doctor. Happy days! Now I just need to be able to pull off this holiday yard sale for a little cash to put back into my house.

I only have one more visit to my plastic surgeon in a couple months and then I'm done, he said. : D I'm so glad that I had the surgery, but I'm still battling my food demons. Seems I'll always have to fight my natural (un-natural?) appetite. Sigh. We all have our battles I guess.
