Happy Sunday!
I had a really nice day last Sunday :) It started out right with morning worship where our family took up two of the small pews in our church. I was seated with my youngest two nieces, Blythe and MacKenzie on either side and behind me sat my sister-in-law, Linda, my sister, Jacki, and nephews Hunter and Colin. Colin led the singing with his beautiful voice (he is his father's son in many ways) as we praised our Lord. One of the young people in our congregation, Levi, chose to be baptized and we were all so very happy for him. Our regular preacher was away this weekend, but Stan had a really great sermon prepared in his stead. The congregation had a "covered dish" lunch afterward (it was already planned anyway) at the "fireman's hut" at the park in Newton. All kinds of good food there, like chicken and dumplings, pineapple casserole, potato salad, Kentucky Fried chicken, chicken and broccoli casserole, sweet pea salad, chicken salad tea sandwiches, baked macaroni and cheese, Mississippi Mud, banana pudding (a southern MUST), Ambrosia cake, pound cake and more. Jacki's contribution was a wonderful and healthy vegetable dish (peas, corn and green beans in a sweet marinade) while I brought decadent and delicious double-chocolate brownies so we canceled each other out!--lol
After a lazy lunch and a couple short games of Crazy Eights with Levi, his brother Andrew, his sister Rebecca, MacKenzie and Jacki, the family decided the five of us would go to Jacki's to swim. I took Hunter and headed to my house to pick up my swimsuit then on over to my sister's where they were already in the pool. It was a perfect day and the water was refreshing, but not cold. I just lazed around in the pool on one of the new floats Jacki has for a couple hours, laughing and talking with everyone and enjoying the sunshine. We usually sit around on her old-fashioned screened-in porch afterward, but it wasn't too long before we called another niece, Becky, to have her come and go with us to supper at Fatz Cafe (one of my four favorite restaurants, the other being: Max & Erma's, Red Rocks Cafe, and Ruby Tuesday's in Hickory). There, Becky regaled us with humorous remarks and anecdotes about her family, until we had to leave because we were laughing too loud. (The management didn't request it or anything, but we felt it was imminent). It was 8:30 pm by the time I got home and it was the best day I've had in a long time. Since I complain too much, I like to stress the happy, peaceful or content moments as well.
