The Everyday Life Of A Worthless Student

Sometimes you just forget about things for a while...

At this moment Tony Blair is addressing the conference in Brighton, a little of the mud-slinging politics that I thoroughly dislike but he's doing pretty well. It's the first time i've actually sat and listened to one of his speeches, some of the points he makes and the manner in which he speaks does strike a nerve and I can see why he's been such a successful leader. Although there are some ideas that I really can't get my head round, for example, they have a policy to get more people into higher education, part of this policy is top up fees. How can you get more people into higher education by making it more expensive, that one is lost on me. He just slipped in a bit about seriously considering nuclear power stations, to this I say Hurrah! It's about time someone ignored the nuclear bogeyman and realised it's the most effecient power source we have available.

Well, it's been longer than I thought it would have been since I done some work on the site but because i've been on my dissertation fieldwork, i've generally been too shattered at the end of the day to do anything. Today i'm gonna do a bit of noggin scratching to see if I can come up with something that is effective, generally asthetically pleasing and in keeping with the style which i'm working with at the moment. I must say, North Yorkshire has rather impressed me, it's so peacefully quiet, the surrounding countryside is wonderful and being on the eastern coast means if I get up early enough I can sit and watch the sun rise above the North Sea, quite a stunning sight.

Even when in the relatively easily accesible state of just being a file on my computer this poor site still gets forgotten for extended period of time. All that said there will be a surge of content being created over the next month or so as I explore the world of amateur photography and spend four weeks in Yorkshire, during which writing little accounts of my progress will help keep me on track with work and, more importantly, sane. I've decided to keep this site simple in appearance dealing very much with shades of grey to keep it all easy on the eyes, I don't know about you but i can't read large blocks of black on white or even worse white on black. Right now i'm trying to think about some buttons or navigational aids for the top of the page, having the little section header links at the bottom is all well and good but they are a little unweildy for standard navigation.

First things first, I am English therefore I write dates the right way round, day-month-year. Well, this site in yet another incarnation is currently being created at 1 am on dreamweaver on my PowerBook, I appear to be listening to Billy Idol and downloading Naruto. Of course I should be sleeping right now, especially after earlier today I thought to myself "I'm wasting my day, I should get up earlier tomorrow morning". Well this is tomorrow morning and I am seeing a distinct lack of going to sleep let alone getting up. I'm currently pondering on ideas that were included in old versions of my site. The EU html image map for browsing my photos may return, that or i'll scratch my noggin and play with flash, but I like image maps, not sure why, maybe because I couldn't fathom how they worked when I first came across one many years ago. Now I know better, they're beautifully simple and I like doing things the simple way, I'm gonna try and avoid things that are pretty much unnecessary unless they save me a great deal of effort. You've got to remember, at the heart of me i'm a laid back lazy student. Right, that'll do for now, time to rest up, maybe i'll get some form of divine inspiration whilst i'm in the land of nod.
