JAM Plans Inaugural Home Run Derby

Patches, Blasters will aim for the fences

YONKERS, N.Y. (August 3, 2009) -- JAM officials have announced plans for an inaugural Home Run Derby on Aug. 15 at The Bailout JAM.

A makeshift fence could be used not only for the exhibition, but for the game itself, the annual clash between the Patches and the Blasters, as well.

Patches captain Chris Spellman and Blasters captain Chris Crowley will each select four players for the Derby. JAM Commissioner Mike Campoli will pick two wild-card competitors at his discretion.

Each participant will have eight outs -- non-home runs -- to hit as many home runs as he can. The top five move on to the championship round.

The 17th edition of The JAM is set for a later date than usual because of several scheduling conflicts. The Blasters will attempt to extend a seven-game winning streak.
