When just having a badge and a uniform isn't enough, it's time to take matters into your own hands.

By killing countless gangsters.
I think I mentioned over on the Contra: Hard Corps. review that the Sega Genesis got all the good stuff.

Well once again, it's good to own the lesser owned system.?

Streets of Rage 2 is just one of those games that never gets old. It's a beat 'em up, sure, one of the more tiresom genre's, but SoR2 actually manages to make a game that's replayable, even 13 years later.

You pick from four fighters. Axel, the main character? who is good with strength, decent speed ect. Blaze, a well rounded character, who beats the usual girl stereotype by being equaly strong and fast. Skate, a quick kid on rollerblades. And Max, the tough guy of the group.

The gameplay is pretty deep for a beat 'em up (esspeiclly from a decade ago). You got your standered attack button, a jump button and a special move button which will help you get rid of groups of foes, but at the same time take a bit of your own health off. Theres moves you can pull like double tapping forward twice then punching which will launch you forward with a devistating smash, pushing both punch and jump will have you attack both sides of you and you can pick up tons of weapons to use too.

The graphics are top notch high quality. Theres enough little details going on to make any "OMIGODGRXBIGBONERFOR" losers wet there pants over (well, maybe not since they only play the newer games anyways). Some of the backgrounds though are really nice. I really love the city at night in level 2, beautiful.

The music in this game is hailed as some of the best game music to come from the Genesis. It's all composed by fan-favorite Yuzo Koshiro, and is hardcore techno that just makes you want to dance...err... maybe.? Seriously, go out and find this soundtrack now. It's one of the best.

If you ask anyone of a great Genesis game that isn't Sonic or made by Konami, you'll probably get Streets of Rage 2. Maybe something else, but you get what I mean, right?
