Flynn's Block Parties

Brad Pitt and Edward Notron never had it so easy. When violence erupted during the filming of the "Fight Club", the director yelled "Cut!". No one stops battles in WCW's Block.

Jerry Flynn, a 6'4, 238-pound martial arts master, has staked a claim as ruler of the Block, and he welcomes any and all challenges. "If someone doesn't know what pain really is, please, please take one of my open challenges", says Flynn, a 10-year pro who lives in Tampa.

Battles in the Block are no-holds-barred fights contested in arena basements. Bare knuckles, bare fists--anything goes. The rules are simple: two men enter the room, one leaves.

"These aren't hardcore matches because you won't see any trashcans, pots, pans, or shovels in the Block", Flynn says. "Battles in th Block are a lot more physical than a normal wrestling match, but I like them that way."

"It seems to come right from what I grew up doing: martial arts, kickboxing, shoot fighting. I don't have to hold anything back in the Block. It's just a matter of survival."
