Devin's Background: Born Nathen Brinks to a single mother, the person now known as Devin Hawk started life the hard way. He lived with his mother, Suzen Hawkens, until the age of 7, when she was killed by complications from pnemonia. Nathen had never seen another person in his short life due to the fact the he and his Mother lived almost in the heart of Death Valley. The had survived by digging for their water, and eating whatever they could find. Nathen only knew what few things he had been taught while his mother was alive, but it was enough to survive. Soon after his mother passed, Nathen lost the house to a fire when it was struck by lightning, so this left the young boy to the ravages of the desert. He quickly learned to hunt snakes, lizards, and the occasional wild dog to have food. Nathen soon discovered a town a few miles from where he had been living in a small cave, and started sneaking into the houses on the outskirts at night to gain food, water and clothing. This is the way he lived, until the age of 15 when he finally gathered enough courage to go into town during the day. On his first daytime visit, Nathen was arrested for theft, and turned over to Child Protective Services for placement into a foster home. Within a week a home was found, and Nathen was once again in a new enviroment. Little did the CPS know, but this would soon turn out to be a much worse enviroment then living in the desert for Nathen. Within a few days, Mr. Oleander, the foster parent, saw Nathens strength and will to survive, so he "sold" the young Nathen to a man who had no compassion for human life. Nathen was quickly givin the name of Devin, and pawned off as an adopted orphan. Now known as Devin, the young man was quickly introduced to his new lifestyle, the world of underground fighting. For the next two years, Devin did nothing but weight training, learn fighting styles and tecniques, and endure countless forms of torture to raise his pain threshold. These two years passed quickly for Devin, and soon he was fighting for money six nights a week. After winning his first 21 fights, Devin asked for his money so he could go back to Arizona to visit his mother's grave. He then found out that their would be no money until he earned enough to pay back all the money that was spent to train, feed, and shelter him for the last two years. Devin tried to rebel against it, but was reminded that he was only 17, and would be sold to another fight promoter in South America if he did not comply. Devin ended up fighting for another year before being hired as a "collecter" by a well known crime figure. Devin accepted eagerly, and moved to New York. Devin enjoyed a life of "collecting" and pit fighting for about five years before he started to grow tired of doing the "same old thing" all the time, and signed up to be a roadie for a band called Guns N' Roses. This only lasted a short time however, Devin was fired after nearly beating a backup guitarist to death for puking on him. So once again, Devin was looking for something that would allow him to be violent, but still pay him good money. Thats when Devin discovered the world of wrestling. A promoter for an indy fed signed Devin to a developmental contract, and set out to teach the massive man how to operate in the ring. The training lasted for about a year, then the fed closed due to lack of money. Devin was upset at the news that the promotion had gone under, but was determined to become a wrestler. He bounced around several indy feds until he landed in the 2XW. Within the first few days of being there, Devin found out that another person on the roster had the same last name. After further investigation, Devin found out that the Monster known as Baine was in fact, his half brother. Baine and Devin quickly teamed up, and began winning tag titles where ever they went. After several years, several feds, and several titles, Devin realized that he had all the money he would ever need, but he still felt like something was wrong. He left the world of wrestling for about a year, and persued other interestes, but the ring just kept calling him back. So, after several months of looking for a good fed, Devin was told about the SCCW. It was perfect. No huge contracts to negotiate, no world wide programing, and no overseas tours. Just a ring, a few fans, and the opponent. Devin was finally home. This home, however, was short lived. Devin enjoyed a 20 month undefeated heavyweight title run until his retirement for lack of opposition. Again Devin was left to drift along in life, looking for the next big challange. |
