Tournament-Style Gaming

Description: This is a generic scenario for playing tournament-style games.  Use it as a template for writing scenarios if you wish.

Forces: Unless specific troops are called for, refer to the Points Match section.

Points Match: Each army will have 500-3000 points of troops.  The number of points must be agreed upon before the battle starts.

Layout: A gaming table must be at least 2 feet by 2 feet in size.  There should be no more than six terrain features per foot unless the battlefield is a special one, like Normandy Beach or Arnhem.  Either a non-playing person should set up the terrain, or both players should set up the terrain in agreed upon locations.

Starting Positions: Unless representing a specific battlefield, again like Normandy or Arnhem, the long board edges will be the sides the forces start on.  Both players will roll 1d6; the winner chooses the side he starts on.  If one player sets up the terrain, the other will decide which board edge to set up on.  2d6+2 (maximum 10) units may start hidden.  The forces cannot start closer than half the board length of the shorter board edge.

Objectives: An objective must be reasonable.  Such an objective could be to cross the enemy’s board edge, destroy a target, or even survive a certain number of turns.  A game will last either 12 or 6 + 1d6 turns, whichever the gamers choose.  If neither side can agree on objectives, then add the point values of each unit that lost more than 50% of its strength.  The side that destroyed the most points wins.

Special Rules: Unless a scenario requires special rules, follow the regular and optional rules for European Battlefield.  Both sides must agree on the use of optional and special rules before a game begins.
