Carnage before the Volga, part 1

Description: The Germans broke into the city of Stalingrad and are pushing towards the Volga.  Outgunned and outnumbered, the Soviets must prevent the Germans from establishing a beachhead on the Volga River.

 

Forces:

Germany:

3 Infantry Platoons

2 Mechanized Support units

 

Soviets:

2 Rifle companies

2 Foot support units

 

Layout: The battlefield is the city of Stalingrad, but any ruined buildings and rubble-filled streets would be usable.

 

Starting Positions: The Germans start at least 12 inches away from the Russians on a short board edge.  The Soviets can set up anywhere on the board.  Up to half of the Soviet units may start hidden.

 

Objectives: The Germans must exit at least 25 men off the opposite board edge by turn 12.  The Russians win if the German player cannot make the objective.

 

Special Rules: None.

 

Carnage before the Volga, part 2

Description: The Germans had been checked.  The Soviets held the Germans back, but more reinforcements have arrived on both sides.

 

Forces:

Germany:

3 Infantry platoons

2 Mechanized support units

1 Artillery unit

 

Soviet:

1 Infantry company

2 Mechanized support units

2 Artillery units

1d6 Marine squads

 

Layout: See Part 1, but in the middle of the board should be a statue and a city square.

 

Starting Positions: The Germans set up 18 inches way from the statue.  The Soviets can set up anywhere.  The Soviets can set up half the force hidden.

 

Objectives: The Germans must capture the square and kill all Russians within 6 inches of the statue.  The Soviets must hold the statue and square at all costs.

 

Special Rules: None.

 

Carnage before the Volga, part 3

Description: The Germans were in defeat, and they couldn’t handle the rough Russian Winter.  Meanwhile, the Russians had cut off the Stalingrad army and were in the process of destroying the German forces bottled up in the city.

 

Forces:

Germany:

2 infantry platoons

1 Foot support platoon

 

Soviet:

2 Tankovaya companies

2 infantry companies

2 Mechanized support units

 

Points Match: The Russians must be a strong mix of foot and mechanized forces, and must be at least twice the point value of the Germans.

 

Layout: The battlefield is the city of Stalingrad, but any ruined buildings and rubble-filled streets would be usable.

 

Starting Positions: The Soviets start at least 12 inches away from the Germans on a short board edge.  The Germans can set up anywhere on the board.  Up to half of the German units may start hidden.

 

Objectives: The Russians must destroy the German force by turn 12.
