TRADING INFORMATION PAGE
I am a UK-based horror film fan, with a passion for Japanese cinema and Italian horror films. I started trading quite a few years ago, but things really took off when I got myself a multi-standard VCR three years ago. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get dupes of rare Japanese films here in the UK. I also want to thank those people who've been good friends to me in the last few years - especially Paul Hutchings (UK), Damian Dugdale (UK), Adam Coates (Canada) and Stuart West (USA).
I have included a page giving filmographies for Japanese directors, which I am still working on, and also a page giving links to reviews I have written. I used to write for www.splatterhouse.net when they still existed, and many of the reviews I have on this site were originally posted there (thanks J for letting me use them!) The others were originally posted at www.mhvf.net
I'm also a long-time regular on the alt.horror usenet discussion group - why not join me and the other reg's (Merrin, Walpurgis, WSPig, etc.) for some heated discussions...!?
As for me myself - I'm a 25 year old Chemistry graduate. I live with my (very) long-term girlfriend Angela, who doesn't like horror (or Japanese) cinema! I enjoy reading classic SF/Fantasy (Jack Vance, Gene Wolfe, PK Dick, JG Ballard, etc) and gothic horror (Lovecraft, Poe, Blackwood, Dunsany, Machen, etc) and listening to gothic/industrial music (Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, Cure, KMFDM, NIN, Ministry, etc).
I am happy to trade with anyone, anywhere! I can convert my PAL films to NTSC and vice-versa. I can also convert to other standards (i.e. SECAM). I use a Samsung SV3000 multi-standard VCR and a high-end SONY E950 with gold-plated/OFC cables.
I only use branded tapes - usually Sony, TDK or Maxell. For PAL trades, I will copy 2 films on 1 tape, but for NTSC trades, I will usually copy one film per tape.
Many of my Japanese films, and some of my other films, are in NTSC format. This is because I have traded with the US to get them. They will usually be rare titles, which are near impossible to get in the UK. I can copy these as NTSC, or convert them.
Anyway, if you have any questions about anything, or just want to discuss films (especially Japanese ones!), please do e-mail me.
