George Washington Ervay
George Washington Ervay was born on 10 February 1845, to Daniel and Eliza (Wise) Ervay.
He was shot in the head on the 2nd of July on Little Round Top during the Battle of Gettysburg and died on the 6th when he succumb to his wounds.
The family has many letters from George during his time in the service, including one written on the 2nd of July, which was forwarded to his parents by the Corpral of the company, R. Turrill.  Allen A. Young, who went to war from Grand Ledge with George, said that he was with George when he was shot at around 5 pm and tried to drag  him from the battlefield, but was unable to because the fighting was so fierce.  George was eventually removed from the field after dark, removed to the rear and died in the 3rd Hospital on July 6th.

Mother's Baby was written by George's neice, Florence Ervay Root to commorate his and others deaths in the Civil War.
