ABOUT ME

I am a gay black man who has been married to the pen for a good portion of my life. I am a theatre actor, writer and outdoors enthusiast born and raised in Baltimore, and these aspects have been influencing my writing since the day I was inspired to sit down with a pen and write my first juvenile fic,
Grumpy Mumpy at age 7.
As a preteen I branched into poetry and had my first poem,
Morning Glory published in a poetry anthology, Whispers at Dusk, by at age 13.  In high school I found another literary outlet in playwriting.  During that period I composed The Clique, Gemini, and Ive Got Talent.  Now in college as an English major, I am editing my first full length novel, three years of work so far with hopes of completing soon. I am also a part of Strange Fruit, a writer's consortium in Baltimore that is publishing an anthology the begining of 2004, and doing shows in the local area.

MY MISSION

My mission for this website is to help launch another literary renaissance for the new millennium, but only with the help of others.  In the new millennium, technology and entertainment mediums, such as television, movies, music, and internet have almost totally eclipsed the three major literary art forms, poetry, drama, and fiction.  This has caused the statistics of readers to be at the lowest ever in all of literary history.  Without readers, writers lose the inspiration to write for them.  I see this as a major intellectual crisis in our society.  So I am urging those who dont want to see novels, poetry and theatre go the way of the dinosaurs to join me in my efforts to bring our generation and the future generations back to appreciating the literary arts as in the days of Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, and the like.

MY PLAN

I will update this website  with news on the literary front, reader recommendations, and a pick of the issue in the categories of poetry, fiction, drama, and essays from amateur and professional artists.  As this website grows I hope to begin a few fictional series, a dramatic story line that you can follow every issue and then send me feedback of where you would like the story to go.  If you would like to submit your work for judging for the Ramses Westbrook-Scott pick of the issue please e-mail me your copyrighted material.  I greatly appreciate any feedback, criticism and praises you may have.

UPDATES

I've just finished reading Red On a Rose by Patricia Jones. Its slow starting but once you stick with it into the middle, you'll be glad you did. If you have any book
recomendations for me,
e-mail me, and I will look it up and hopefully write an essay on it.
Coming November 2003: I wil be creating a page just to post the works of amateur writers, who have appealed to my special tastes in literature. If you would like to have your work considered for posting on that page, again e-mail it to me. All artists will get full recognition and rights of their work. I will also add a link to my online journal, just as soon as I add enough entries. I have 2 essays to load, Sisterly Love and Professuer Magnifique, and one more poem, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Look forward to all these things and invite your friends to join in on the movement. -10/18/03
