When we met at Latin State 1999, I had no idea how the incident would unfold.  Within the time following those faithful and amazing two days of weird Latin kids (classical latin, not espanol latin) she would become almost my guru for advice.  Kind of like the big sister I never had.  A big sister with beautiful emerald green eyes.  But by logic, I think it reveals that I'm compelled and drawn to women with higher maturity levels than yours truly.  But often I wonder, why out of all the guys from the Leesburg faction was I the one who caught her attention?
Maybe because I'm just that charismatic of a person (oooh, crushing ego).  Perhaps because there were some shared Mediterranean looks her boyfriend at the time and I had in common.  I'm not sure, but when the second night ended of the convention, and we went out to eat at the nearby Japanese steakhouse, we hit it off like two long-time friends.  After dinner, when the group of Leesburg guys(about 5 of us) came back to the hotel, my pal Mike Burns said, "Damn Pete, you did good."  I didn't immediatly pick up on what he meant.  And then it clicked. "oh yeah, I guess I did."   If I ever were to say something romantic happened in the years since we met, I'd be lying.  We're just good friends.  Like a metaphorical two sisters.

Lately, I'm not sure how her personal life is going.  I talk to her so rarely these days.  So I understand.  We're both busy people.  Her more than me.  I guess that's the way it goes when you're living your life, and going to work to put yourself through college.  Nevertheless, I'm sure she's that same as she always was.  Attractive, brilliant, funny, amazing, interesting.  Just a really great person.
