- After creating your character, you will enter your apartment. The next time you go out the door, you will enter your starting city.
- The first thing you should do, is to examine your inventory. (Press "i"). Check which skills you need to use the nano crystal and weapons in your inventory. Do this by Shift + left-clicking it.
- Before you do any hunting, open the skill view and put the IP-points on skills. Do this by clicking on the (S)kill button on the bar at the bottom of the client. Examine skills and abilities by asking for information about it by left-clicking it. Remember to push the Accept button when you are finished with distributing your IP.
- Good places to use your points are the skills that you need to use your weapon, nano technology and initiative connected with your fighting method. Also look for green or light blue skills. Be sure always to increase your "Body Development" skill to maximum at all levels! This is your hit point skill, and you will live longer with that at maximum.
- Equip weapon by opening Inventory and Wear view. Drag the weapon into the hand in the Weapon View.
- Open the map to find a way out of the city. In Newland there is a short way to interesting hunting grounds. In Tir and Omni-1 you will have to look for the gate out of the city. F9 gives you your location in the game world.
- In Anarchy Online it is a good idea to hunt in a team. It is easier, more fun and gives xp faster. If you are hunting on your own, set agg/def level in Stat View to max aggressiveness.
- Use the cell scanner often. You are saved automatically for the 5 first levels, but it is a good idea to be used to check by the cell scanner. There should be one close to your spawn point.
- The starting gun uses no ammo. Save it as a backup. Remember that other guns need ammo to be used.
- When you get a mission and enter the area where it takes place, holding down right mouse button will make a pop-up menu appear. Pressing the bottom button will upload the coordinates of the mission to your map view.
- Some special attacks don't have an appropriate button in the control view yet. An example is the Martial Artist "Attack of the Snake". You need to press the right-mouse button on its icon to activate it. Others can be accessed through the keyboard only. See the keyboard setup for those.
- Some useful keyboard commands:
1. Pressing right mouse button icon (item, nano program or similar) activates
it.
2. Holding down Shift while pressing left mouse button on an icon gives
you information about it.
3. Holding down right mouse button in the 3D view, enables you to turn
camera.
4. Pressing the small buttons in upper right corner opens menus. (Short-keys:
Ctrl 1-9)
5. World map, Skill view and Inventory view is activated on the bottom
line.
6. Pressing F8 toggles between 1st and 3rd person view.
7. Pressing F10 enables the option menu where you can access all other
keys!

Some assorted tips and tricks that you may find helpful in-game if you don't already know them:
- You can use the mouse wheel to scroll the panels on the right up and down.
- You can change the order in which the panels on the right appear. Click and hold on the panel name and move it into the order that you want.
- To split up a group of items in your inventory, Ctrl-click on it.
- You can manually reload a gun by picking up a clip of ammo from your inventory and right clicking on your gun in the wearview.
- Shift-click on an item to get information about it. To scroll this information box, click and drag in the text area.
- You have a personal bank, use /bank open and /bank close to use it.
- If you have a monster highlighted, you can hit 't' to get info on it (as though you had shift-clicked on it).
- When you get a mission, you can upload the mission coordinates onto the map by right-clicking on the mission (hold the button down) and selecting the icon that appears - to me the icon looks like 2 people. Tooltips appear over these icons. It will then show up as a white dot on the map.
- You can scroll the map around by L-clicking and holding on it and dragging it around. It will re-center itself when you move.
- Hitting 'u' brings up the skillview. 'i' brings up the inventory view. Hit 'x' to sit.
- Type /quit to exit the client immediately - but your character will stay in for the same amount of time as if you sit to exit.
- Selecting a team-members in the Teamview selects that player so that you can cast nanos on them or use heal kits/treatment, etc.
- Place nanos that you regularly use into the Favorites tab ... especially when you have a large number of nanos.
- There are a number of shops selling nano crystals around. Click on the shop and look at the name that appears in the top left hand corner of your screen. The name of the shop will tell you what kind of crystals it sells.
- Only the 'general' NF crystals can be used by everyone.
- To autorun, run in a direction then hold down the Alt key and release the directional key. Autorun works also with Shift-key.
- To add a person to the list of your friends: Highlight the person. Press "g" to make a reference. Pick up the reference and put it into the "Friends" window. Right click on the name of that "friend", and hold the right button, then there will be two pop-up buttons show up, click on the one with red arrow to remove that friend from the list.
- Doubleclick the icon left off your friend will invite him to a conference, he joins by doubleclicking too. Then you can talk with the /c command.
Right-clicking the mouse cursor anywhere in your view screen (anywhere on the screen except for the GUI) allows you to go in a "free camera" mode where you can spin your view around and look at anything. This works in both First and Third person mode.
- You can scroll the overhead map by clicking your LMB (be sure to hold the button down) on it and moving the mouse. If you are stationary, the map will stay in the position you left it when you release the button, but if you are moving it will snap back to the position you are in.
