| Children of the Goddess Danu who was the matriarch of the Irish Gods. Tuatha De Danaan defeated the Formors in the Battle of Magh Tuireadh. They, (the Danaan) were then defeated by the Milesains, and retreated into and under the hills. This is where they stayed. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Lugh was the leader and celtic god of Danaan. He was so favored to this day there is still a feastival in his honor...the festival of Lugnasad. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Then there was Nuadha...also at one time a leader of Danaan. He was known as Nuadha of the Silver Hand. He lost his arm in battle and the physican Dian Cecht made him one of silver. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Dagda was the god to lead the Danaan to victory over the Fomorians. He was skilled in many trades. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Morrigan assisted Dagda in battle. She was a goddess of war....hovering the battlefields. Many times she would take the shape and form of a raven. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It is plain the distinction between Gods and men is somewhat blurred, or rather has scarcely emerged. The conception of Gods as superhuman beings has slowly evolved in the course of history.
