GLOBAL WARMING. IS IT FOR REAL?
Well, I don't know. I am no scientist, and there are convincing arguements on both sides. However - one thing is for certain, our climate has changed. In my garden I have for the second year running had roses giving me four shows over the year, the last from December into January. Hebes are flowering in February. Carnations are in bud. Birds that are normally migrants are remaining in this country. They are breeding in winter. There is patently something wrong, at least viewed on a micro level. Yet, viewed on a macro level, we have seen such violent changes in climate over the milleNnia. In fact, it is not that long ago that we came out of the last ice age. The coast line of South East England was dramatically altered in the last quarter of the 13th century!

Ad yet I cannot believe though that spewing the amounts of pollutants we do into the atmosphere can do anything but harm. It seems quite illogical to me, as a laymen. To have the number of radio and other waves being shot through and across our world on an ever increasing basis cannot be good either. But I do not see that we can stop this trend, a trend that appears irreversible to me. We cannot in the Western world, and we do not have the power to stop it in that part of the world that will be the power-house of economic activity in the coming years - India, China and the Far East generally. Perhaps the world is on a course towards self-destruction.
