It gets worse. We now have that wanker Tony 'I've got nothing better to do' Banks wanting to save the Ruddy Duck ! The bird is not a natural denizen of this country, but was imported into it many years ago from America I believe. And yes, it is mating with the White Headed Duck in Spain and threatening that duck with extinction. We have around 6000 in this country and they are to be culled, but this has met with opposition from a number of quarters.
The issue is - and this is par for the course as far as the Government is concerned - it is to cost about �1000 to slaughter each duck. For God's sake, give the farmers a small bounty and they will do it for next to nothing. Not only that, but they can get a good meal out of them or indeed they could supply a number of nursing homes or OAPs with them. I am sure they would be more than grateful for a mouthful of duck!
