DRINK DRIVING CAMPAIGN? WHAT DRINK DRIVING CAMPAIGN?
December 2005
With a degree of contempt for the public that only this Government is capable of, we are told that another drink driving campaign will come into force this Christmas. Another? I have noticed none these last few years, at least none worth speaking of.

I have said it before and I can only but reiterate it. If you wish to stop people driving whilst they are drunk, then the police should simply await them at closing times outside the pubs, when so very many try to get into their cars whilst patently very inbriated. I have seen this in many parts of London, and elsewhere, yet this is where action should be taken, not subsequently when it may be too late; an accident may have occured. In any case, it is much cheaper for the public purse this way.

I actually don't think they want to catch drunk drivers. The public purse is emptying rapidly and the more people spend, especially at present on alcohol, the more taxes are gathered. What if a few people die or are seriously injured in the process.
