| AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BUSH Dear Mr President, Here you are waiting to take out Saddam and the world appears to be against you. Why ? Ill tell you why. You should have taken action within months of the war against Afghanistan. Few would have dared to criticise the USA in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, and if they had, in muted tones The world trembled at what you would do. Many, most I dare say, sympathized with you. Had you gone in then, even with a small force, with or without other nations, I believe you would have toppled Saddams regime in double quick time. Instead you waited and in so doing listened to one person more than any other on the international scene - Tony Blair. This jerk-off artist has for a considerable time been trying for political ends to make a name for himself within international politics. What has been gained by waiting ? What has the delay achieved ? People have forgotten 9/11. Yes, they have, lets be honest about it. People have had time to think, to think of their economic interests, to think of the possible ramifications of unrest at home with their Muslim populations. What is more, the delay has given Sadam time to build up a strategy against any invasion by coatition forces. It has given him time to hide any 'weapons of mass destruction' ( and I how I hate that term ), it has given him time to dispose of any such weapons abroad to other unfriendly regimes. The delay has cost the USA a lot of money, money it can ill afford. You are having to buy of Turkey, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and God knows who else. It has crucified the markets worldwide causing world economies additional problems - as if they did not have enough. But I don't blame you Mr President. I blame Blair, and I suspect ultimately so will many people on both sides of the Atlantic. You are losing faith and political friends and allies. Well, the balls in your court (as always) January 2002 |
