THE REAL LEADER OF THE LIB DEM PARTY

Let's face the fact that the real leader of the Liberal Democrat Party in the UK is Vince Cable. OK, so his image was not what was sought by the Liberals when it came to their leadership election, but he is the one politician in the party who has a presence in the media and hence in the public eye.

He is at all times well informed, well briefed, articulate, and available to speak on virtually any subject. It's a pity about the rest of the party. Carry on Vince.

TAX RISES

It is astonishing how Gordon Brown and his thugs can state that there has been no tax rise. Taxes for the least well off have risen, how can that be disputed? The man is a charlatan; he was as a Chancellor and he is now as a Prime Minister. He will go down as the second worst Prime Minister in history - next to Tony Blair.

Again and again we hear him speaking of long term changes, long term this and long term that. I must say he is quite right to do so. It is indeed for the long term that he has done significant damage to the British economy, to Britain's social fabric, to Britain's very future. Now that we are in a recession we are reaping the rewards of his  'prudence'.

BORIS JOHNSON

As nasty a piece of work as Ken Livingstone is, Boris did not perform particularly well on television recently. His biggest mistake, purely for the sake of getting some of the immigrant vote, was to suggest he would give an amnesty to all immigrants in London. Quite apart from the fact that that is not within his power to implement, it will alienate many voters, from all political spectrums. It will not gain him more than a handful of immigrant votes, the majority of whom will vote for Livingstone. Furthermore, he does not come across as a serious man, no matter how hard he tries, he is by natuire a buffoon. There's nothing wrong with that, he is in good company in the Conservative Party. The next three weeks will be critical for both parties, in that who will it be who will lose the elction - not win it.
