TO THE WOMAN I LOVE
Dear MIP, I never realised what an ugly bitch you are, until those few weeks ago. But then, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Perhaps that is why I have loved you all these years. But come on - Little Black Riding hood with her acolytes in tow !  Get real !

  IF IT DOESN'T PAY....
I cannot fathom out the police. There they are waiting in numbers to catch motorists who take the wrong turn off a road, or they try and bump up their income and the revenue of the police by catching speeding motorists.
But driving whilst drunk, the cause of so much misery, has taken a back seat. It doesn't pay of course. I can speak for much of London and the number of pubs that spill out their drunken customers at or after closing time, people who then stagger into their cars and drive off eratically.... well, then who cares, it does not pay.

AFGHANSISTAN BACK ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY
The Afganistani economy is thriving once again, thanks to the Americans. The war lords are up and running, the Talliban are growing their beards again and all this excellent news is being funded by record opium poppy production. Who says free enterprise does not pay.

         GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS
The bad news is that our security services have discovered that terorrists were planning to assasinate leading British figures. The good news is that among them were Tony Blair, Jack Straw and David Blunkett. I never thought I would say this but I can but wish these Muslim terrorists the best of British luck in their endeavours. At least
THEY have the bottle to do what is so necessary.
  SAINSBURY'S PROFIT WARNING
I never cease to be amazed by the Financial World. Shock oh shock, we have just been given another profits warning by Sainsbury's. That that was on the cards was so obvious, as were the problems they had some 8 or was it 10 years ago (time flies). If you want to know about a supermarket, or virtually any other business come to that, you look at them as a customer. In the case of a supermarket you shop there. You don't just shop at your local store, but if you have the opportunity - and I had and have - in stores around the country. You would then have seen some 2 - 3 years ago, that management in these stores was poor, and it is at local level that this best manifests itself, and their product mix is wrong. On top of that they are quite simply too expensive for their particular niche in the market place. Product on product they are quite simply dearer for the most part than are Tesco and ASDA. What on earth do most finacial institutions have high paid analysts for ?

ALAN MILBURN cannot believe Blair really thinks Milburn has a chance to succeed him as future party leader. He was clearly brought in to thwart Brown's ambitions, yet his speech impediment and lack of intellectual ability should preclude him from taking the top job. Are Labour moving into the position in which the Tories face themselves in not having any of stature to lead? Surely not. Labour's last two administrations have never had any one of stature within them, but they have thrived.
A GAMBLIN' MAN

So what your Lordship warned about over a year ago is coming to pass. The anti-Christ Blair is allowing gambling on a Las Vegas scale to come to Britain. I am not surprised. The sorry state of the Exchequer's coffers, as also those of local councils, dictates this move. Nonetheless, I would love to know what Tom Baker was doing at Downing Street. Perhaps he will be the link man between Blair and US gamling interests. Come on Tom, pay over a contribution to Labour party funds, it's the least you can do.
