ISRAEL - A N OWN GOAL

Once again Israel has screwed up and not just because of the attack on Canah. That in itself was a bad mistake and I am not surprised that they do not have better intelligence in respect of what they bomb and where. Why is there no one in their HQ looking to see what went wrong for them from a PR perspective in previous wars/campaigns, looking to view the press coverage they got in Israel and abroad and seeking not to repeat any mistakes made then. But that's the Israelis nowadays, no longer as smart as they were. I would not go as far as calling them 'a bunch of tetosterone charged thugs', as was recently done. But where are the people of the stature of Golda Meir, Chaim Herzog, Ben Gurion, Moshe Dayan et al? Highly motivated by preserving the newly established state of Israel, virtually all had suffered at the hands of the Nazis in some respect; thrown together from all parts of the world, these early pioneers demonstrated much ability and talent, but they are no more.

But it is not only their leaders that are lacking. Israeli soldiers are quite simply not what they were. Many, and most of the young ones, have never seen action. They have grown up in today's world, a consumer led world of plenty, a me world with good prospects in their mother country, the USA. They are quite simply not the same men (and women) who fought in the 1940s - 80s.

More importantly, nor are their opponents the same disorganized bunch who faced them on the battlefield on so many earlier occasions. These people are better educated, better trained in the art of warfare, better supplied with weapons and most importantly, more united in their faiths and hatred of the USA, Britain and Israel, thanks, it has to be said, in part due to Bush and Blair's handling of foreign policy.

And I believe, unless some major changes in Middle East policy take place, it is highly likely that they will achieve Israel's destruction. No matter how well armed Israel is, it cannot now numerically take on the rest of the Arab and anti-Israeli world, given that these people, are now more highly motivated than ever. Whilst fractionated, they are still united in their hatred of the state of Israel. They have the money through their oil wealth with which to arm themselves, and we in the West and those in the East are more than happy to supply them with weapons.

The Arabs, let us call them that, will build atomic bombs, of some magnitude, I am quite sure of that. Money talks - bullshit walks. There are enough in the west and elsewhere who will supply weapons grade heavy metals to manufacture such bombs. I believe the probability that Israel will be annihilated is extremely high. It matters not who gets in the first strike. Israel is geographically a small country. A few atomic bombs strategically placed would eradicate it or at the best make it totally uninhabitable. Many area of surrounding countries would undoubtedly be affected, but those living there will have the privilege of entering Paradise.

Israel on the other hand would find it difficult to destroy all its hostile neighbours. The area covered is far too great. Would the USA join in and protect Israel in such a fray? Now perhaps yes, but who knows what will happen in the future.

It fills me with some sorrow, as I have an empathy for Israel and have many Jewish acquaintances. But perhaps Israel's removal from the map of the world would be a good thing. It has been a source of so much strive for such a long time. Perhaps I should say 'I had many Jewish acquaintances'.
