| Ten Things Ray Loves About Fraser | |||||||
| _____________________ (Not the top ten things, because Ray's pretty tired right now, and thinking of the top ten would just be way too complicated. But while he's lying here in the darkness watching Fraser sleep, these are the ten things that he's thinking of.) 1) The way that, in the beginning, he'd sleep stiff as a board on his own side of the bed, but over time he's learned to relax into Ray's side, curling up against Ray and falling asleep feeling their chests breathing in time to each other. He doesn't sleep like a Mountie anymorenow he just sleeps like a guy, like someone who just wants to feel the warmth of somebody else beside him as he drifts off to sleep. 2) The way he gasps out Ray's name as he comes, over and over again in that broken voice, like he's forgotten he's saying it. 3) His eyes. 4) The fact that there's always coffee waiting for Ray when he wakes up in the mornings, with a package of Smarties set out next to the coffeemaker. He hasn't found where Fraser's hiding them yet, which is probably a good thing, because more than likely he'd just eat them all, and then he'd have none left for his coffee. 5) The taste of his skin when he's just stepped out of the showerclean soap and a little bit of sweat from the hot water (because Ray's finally managed to convince him that he doesn't need to take cold showers all the time). 6) The way he'll throw himself in between Ray and any kind of danger without a second thought, like that stunt with the bank robber today. Of course, if Ray was making a list of things that he hates about Fraser, this would pretty much be at the top of the list. But since he's not, he can admit that he loves Fraser for his insanity, just a little. 7) The way Fraser talks to his dad when he thinks Ray's not listening. 8) Dancing with him, just them, alone in the apartment, sometimes with music, sometimes without. More times than not it ends in bed (as most things do with them), but every so often it just ends with them sinking down onto the couch, tangled together with their arms around each other, watching the city lights blink outside the window. Ray thinks, sometimes, that if growing old with someone is like that, then it must not be so bad. 9) The fact that Fraser wants to grow old with him, and has told him that. 10) The way he still dreams about Fraser, like he used to back before they were together. The only thing that's different now is that when he opens his eyes, he finds that none of it was a dream after all. |
