Notes: Written for Shoemaster. _____________________ The thing about Brendon is, he's always moving. Onstage, offstage, sleeping, awake, when he's playing video games or talking, or just existing, he is always in motion. It's just part of living with him, accepting that sometimes you'll be talking and he'll already be in the other room. Or you'll be having a perfectly normal conversation with Spencer, or Beckett, or any number of other people, and Brendon will come up and drape himself over you, demanding every inch of your attention. Jon's used to that. Which is why Brendon's new thingthis whole sitting quietly and staring thingis creeping him the fuck out. He's still Brendon. (Case in point, he grabbed Jon not fifteen minutes ago and started waltzing around the bus with him until Ryan came in and distracted him.) But there are these moments, like right now, when Jon's sitting at the table eating cereal and trying to concentrate on a magazine, and Brendon is sitting on the couch, leaning back, relaxed, unmoving, watching him. "What?" Jon finally asks the magazine, not giving Brendon the satisfaction of looking at him. Clearly, this is some new game. "What what?" Brendon asks. "Stop looking at me." He sees Brendon smile out of the corner of his eye. He doesn't say anything for a minute or two, then stretches against the couch cushions. "Dance with me, Jon Walker." "Thought I just did that." "No," Brendon tells him. "I danced with you. That's different." "I'm pretty sure we were both moving," Jon says Brendon pouts. "You don't like me anymore," he sighs. "No, I really don't," Jon tells him, and when he glances up he sees just a split second of honest hurt in Brendon's eyes. "Hey," he says, and then he's up, crossing the room, pulling Brendon to his feet. "You," he says beside Brendon's ear as he pulls him close, "are such a drama queen." The smile is back in Brendon's voice when he speaks again. "You love it," he says, and they start moving in time to music neither of them can hear. When Spencer comes in a few minutes later and finds them dancing in front of the couch, arms tight around each other, Brendon's head resting in the curve of Jon's neck, he just smiles and shakes his head at Jon. These, after all, are the things you get used to when you live with Brendon. |
