Mantle - Top View

From around 1420 CE knights relied less on chainmail and more on plate armor for protection. Chainmail collars called Mantles, standards, or tippets helped protect the neck and shoulders. Mantles were habitually worn by the German Landesknecht mercenaries of the early sixteenth century.
