Tournament 1: Round 1

Juni vs Rose

A plate with spicy curry. Suddenly, the curry jumps up! It's alive!

"Beeeeeeaaaaaaany cuuuuuurries, we're so much fun to eat!

If you look real hard, you might even find some meat!"

BEANY CURRIES!!!! For that extra mad yoga-strength when you need it! And now we return you to our regularly scheduled program already in progress.

"Welcome back!" BJ Nash's annoying voice rang across the stadium once again. Already, people were getting annoyed with his voice tone, though they had been annoyed with the rest of him from the very start of the tournament, anyway. "We have a wonderful match-up for you today, ladies and gentlemen!"

"Oh go away, you evil man!" A random old lady yelled from the crowd.

The announcer shrugged. "In this corner, we have one of the most effective yet also the second most air-headed of Bison's elite, Agent Juni!!"

Juni blinked, then frowned. "Okay, now that's just really really mean."

A shadow at the other end caught Rose's interest, a stout man which had what appeared to be a cape. Bison? she thought, chasing the man who managed to melt within the crowd.

She saw the shadow again. Now I got you.

"And on the other corner!" The annoying man announced again. "Presenting the master of the psychic arts, and the lady who never makes sense....Rose!'

Damn!

"What?" Rose wasn't amused, not only did he interupt her quest, but the other comment.... "I DO make sense, it's just the lower nefes prevents Binah consciousness to enter the very sense of Malkuth, making qliopoth and archons and blocking the throat chakra to...."

Everyone blinked. Rose sighed.

"Yes yes, I know, tournament time."

Juni was waving to the crowd, where a bunch of random males from her friend Avelle's hunting group was cheering her on, complete with "Woot woot!"'s. She couldn't see her partner Juli there though, even though she met Juli earlier, who did a rather fine job of ranting to Juni because Juni decided to spend some more time with Avelle's group after the tournament instead of going back to Shadaloo immediately.

"LET THE FIGHT BEGIN!!!" Nash screamed at the top of his lungs.

The short-haired blonde was quickly caught off guard by the announcement and turned around to face her foe. "J... Juli? Is that you?"

Juni narrowed her eyes and looked hard at the lady known as Rose, then quickly came back to her senses and entered her battle stance, still wondering how she could mistake that lady for her partner when the two looked completely different.

Rose looked at her competitor, who was staring at her as if in a case of mistaken identity. But she herself was an enigma , her eyes betrayed her attempt at equanimity, showing some confusion that the girl herself didn't seem to notice consciously.

Her outfit also betrayed her origins. This was definately a Shadoloo outfit, and where there's Shadoloo HE is surely to be there.

Rose smiled, this wasn't such a waste of time after all.

Although the smile wasn't about her, Juni didn't know that. What she saw was a really confident opponent, the fact that this opponent had mysterious psycho power that Juni knew nothing about, and that this was her first solo one-on-one duel in a long time. There'd be no Juli to bail her out if something went wrong. Not good.

The fact that unlike the other agents, Juni had to charge before hand for all her moves and thus was extremely defensive in battle style didn't help. She decided to throw a couple taunts in hopes that it would get Rose to act first. And the best way to taunt a psychic expert would be with psychic type taunts, of course.

"What's wrong?" Juni attempted to mock in a slightly mockful tone. "Your lower nefes preventing your binah consciousness from... entering... your sense of... chucapabra?"

Of course, Juni's knowledge of metapsychics wasn't exactly the most extensive in the world.

Rose blinked, the reason this girl decided to mention chupacabra- the goat sucker- was curious....and frightening at the same time. Evil experimental groups. Next you'll see people falling in love with cats.

"Lower nefes eh?" She raised an eyebrow, seeing through the game this girl was trying to provoke, and decided to reverse it. "Funny how one who is devoid of will speak about that."

It worked.

"Okay, I have no clue about nefes or chupqliopths, but I know what devoid of will means." Juni replied, quite annoyed.

Fortunately, she did have some offensive skills in her repertoire which most of the other agents were able to master. Juni quickly ran across the battle field then leapt into the air, coming down ludicrously quickly with a downward cannon dive kick that sent her foot jetting straight into Rose's face, knocking her back. Juni followed up with a quick kick before jumping back, still somewhat defensive at not knowing how Rose might counterattack.

Rose recovered from the attack, "I see you can't handle the truth. Being just a mere puppet of that man, I can understand."

The psychic raised her shawl, concentrating soul energy into it. She was at the advantage away from the girl's attack, thus she made sure to make full use of it.

A spark burst out of her shawl.

"What?" Juni responded. "Puppet? What are you tal..."

She was zapped by the soul spark before she could finish her sentence.

Juni cringed and brushed aside some of her burnt hair. "A projectile user?!? It figures. That psycho stuff had to do something!"

Rose decided to immoblize the girl quickly, giving her the another chance to continue seeking the object of her quest. If Bison cared for his puppets he'd appear.

Another soul spark.

Without any distractions this time around, Juni smiled as she thought of the perfect counter to getting past the psychic blasts. In a quick flash, Juni dashed across the battlefield so quickly that she appeared to teleport through the distance, which in fact she did. She passed right through Rose's soul spark and grabbed Rose the minute she came out of the mach slide, then yelled.

"EARTH DIRECT!"

Juni went spinning backwards up into the air taking Rose with her before coming down and slamming Rose hard to the ground. The so-called puppet bounced back from the rebound then quickly dashed back up to Rose as she got up, intent on not allowing Rose to use anymore soul sparks.

Rose was in a tight spot.

She lacked the physical capabilites to counterattack the barage. One of her punches surely wouldn't phase this girl, who was deceptively strong. One of Bison's sick experiments no less.

The psychic needed a plan, and desperate times called for desperate measures. As this girl was trained by Shadoloo, who knew what kind of tactics she'd resort to.

It hit her like an epiphany.

Rose concentrated to the point of a trance, and felt a distinct seperation of her subtler bodies. The psychic illusion move would guarantee her the mobility and physical backup for close handed combat.

Rose punched, Juni blocked, leaving her vulnerable to the other selves to connect their hits.

Being pounded by a ton of Rose's definately caught Juni off guard. She frantically tried to block the punches of all the ladies when the original and forced Juni to block low, then Rose jumped up and as Juni was still trying to stave off the attack of the multiple images, jump kicked Juni in the head. This was followed up by the rest of the images whacking Juni one after another.

After several continuous beatings, Juni finally closed her eyes and screamed in desperation. There was a brief flash of light that pushed Rose all the way back to the other end of the battlefield, giving Juni a little time to recover as Rose's soul illusions wore off.

Juni spent that recovery time trying to figure out what the heck she just did.

Rose gasped, "Shekhinah!" She yelled, making sure to disguise her true words so any passer by or very good listener can understand.

"Bison is sick. Never had I expected such things from -even- him!"

"Shekinawha?" Still bruised and beat from the soul illusion attack and still confused at the seeming randomness of Rose's words, Juni was really wishing that she didn't get paired up against the psychic wierdo. She didn't even know what Rose was babbling about Lord Bison, except that it was an insult. "Cannon drill!"

Once again, Juni acted irrationally from her emotions, as she came spiralling feet first towards Rose. Since it was from a distance, Rose was able to easily see the attack coming.

She sidestepped, leaving Juni vulnerable for the attack. Rose had to make the attack, and end this quickly.

The psychic dashed toward the still recovering girl, and floating above her head, Rose then channeled her psychic power to immobolize Juni.

Before she could even think about resisting, Juni felt an extreme shock of pain surge through her entire body as the two fighters became enveloped by a large ball of light. Juni didn't even try to resist after that, her hands by her side, eyes closed, and her mouth was open in an attempt to scream in pain, but she couldn't.

The ball of light finally exploded in a huge flash sending Juni and Rose crashing into opposite sides of the arena.

After a while, Rose managed to gather the strenght and got up, even more terrified than before.

Her fears were confirmed.

Out of good will she approached her fallen opponent, helping her up.

Juni stumbled about dizzily before looking at the psychic. The audience watched in anticipation, expecting her to either collapse into unconsciousness or make a frantic last ditch effort to back stab Rose and take her out.

The girl did neither. Especially after the extreme mental pain she just went through with that psychic attack. There was only one thing she could think of saying. For once, she seemed to have gotten the psychic reference correct.

Juni slowly supported herself by grabbing on Rose's shoulder, too tired to keep her head up. She slowly muttered. "I guess it was fated to be so."

Rose nodded solemnly, "Yes, it was the will of the Budah"

The blonde agent slowly looked at Rose in the eyes. She almost actually understood that. Juni leaned her head back down and coughed. "Um... I think I'm finished. Could someone help me out here? That's enough."

Several people boo'd and hissed as Nash finally regained his senses from being blinded by the light. "Erm, well, ladies and gentlemen..."

"WE'RE NOT GENTLE!" One of the men yelled from the audience.

BJ Nash coughed then continued. "I guess that concludes the match. The winner is the psychic babbler of nonsense, Rose!!!"

The one who helped Juni off the stage was none other than her partner, Juli herself. Sorta.

"Well, I finally managed to recover from that last match, so here I am." Juli slapped Juni hard. "What the hell is your problem?! I thought we went over what the hell Psycho Charge Gamma meant!! And what just happened back there? Are you so weak-willed that you couldn't even withstand a couple mind games and..."

Still holding onto Rose, Juni slowly turned her head to her partner. She realized that Juli was just extremely pissed off because Juni forgot to help her cheat or something in a previous match. Well, that and the fact that Juli most likely didn't approve of Juni hanging out with Agent Avelle's group.

Several men from that group grabbed Juni and assisted her in walking off the ring. Juni turned behind to look at her partner again. "I'm sorry, Juli. I'll see you later."

"Hey! Wait!" Juli yelled as she quickly ran after the group.

Rose simply stared at the sight and sighed.
