Juli Chapter 1 and Juni Chapter 1: 'Dawn of a New Era' and 'Return of an Old Past'
Prologue chapters. Juni wakes up in what she believes is a medical
ward and recalls that she was sent into a coma a long time ago thanks to
a slip up by her partner, Juli, during a mission. She hopes that
Juli wasn't discharged from the force for that because Shadowlaw demanded
perfection in its agents, but then was relieved to hear Juli's voice in
the background talking to the doctor, Dr. Bremare Yamoto. While she
waits for a bit, she decides to try to do some exercises and practice some
moves, but quickly find that she must have fallen out of shape during the
coma or something because she can't get any of them executed right.
After Yamoto and Juli arrive at the room, she's amazed that Yamoto seemed
so worried about her because he never did before, and also Juli looks a
little different from how she remembered her, too. What Juni didn't
realize though but Juli was discovering meanwhile in her own chapter was
that Juni was actually a clone of the ultimate soldier who was just recently
completed, and had it programmed into her memory that Juli was her partner.
Bremare cares deeply for Juni because he had a heavy hand in her creation,
even though he joined the project (called the DOLL Project) later on, and
now he was giving Juni to Juli as a partner. Unfortunately, Juli
(who was pretty disturbed at the whole cloning thing but decided to just
deal with it) had to quickly catch up on reading a journal of all the memories
Bremare programmed into Juni after, which was pretty annoying.
Juli and Juni Chapter 2: Liquid Gear
Juli and Juni's first mission together! Well, Juni didn't know
that. Juli and Juni rendezvous with another scientist Janet, who
arrives in a truck driven by the tie-dyed haired apathetic female agent,
Marzche. Janet is not in a good mood and Marzche's apathy and bluntness
isn't helping. She talks about how a Shadowlaw secret laboratory
recently got sacked by Interpol, and it's up to Juli and Juni to go over
there and rescue the captured Shadowlaw scientist, Doctor Senoh Hawlson.
Throughout the mission, Juni tends to screw up things a LOT. Fortunately,
she also displays that she has a psychic healing ability, which comes in
handy when she accidentally practically blows her partner up with a missile.
Juli finally decides to ditch her and leave her behind while she finishes
the mission, but an angry at being ditched Juni quickly catches up to her
and demands that Juli stop being so mean to her. Conceding, Juli
decides to let Juni take charge of the mission, after which Juni improves
a pretty good amount and the two actually work together pretty well and
manage to save the professor. After that, Juni is quickly back up
to speed again which is shown by her now impressive ability in all of the
agents' favorite game, Minesweeper.
Juli and Juni Chapter 3: Maximum Efficiency
Setting chapter. You should probably read this one if you're going
to read at least one chapter in all of arc 1. This one describes
Juli and Juni's life in Shadowlaw, and introduces many of the other agents
(all female) on the force. From the cynical Fenrir (who doesn't get
along with Juli at all) to the apathetic Marzche... Doctor Janet also oversees
the agents often in their exercises, accompanied by a really annoying fluffy
pink-haired agent with a microphone. It's revealed that Shadowlaw
is an underground evil organization, which apparently does multiple...
well, evil things across the world. One of which is drug-trafficking.
Juni confesses in her journal about her three idols. M. Bison, the
leader of Shadowlaw, whom is working for a New World Order, Juli, her partner,
who can always manage to pull things through even while Juni's wasting
too much time goofing off, and Avelle, an agent who left Shadowlaw a while
ago to pursue her own dreams. It's revealed that Juni herself doesn't
see Shadowlaw as evil, despite all the crimes it does. Bison himself
is also shown, caring for all the agents quite a lot and giving them special
attention for being the most elite agents on the force, though Juli talks
about how she's dismayed that Agent Cammy ended up getting the position
to be Bison's bodyguard and not her. Oh yea, and none of the elite
agents get paid in real money, which annoys them a little yet they still
keep working for Shadowlaw, regardless.
For some reason, Juni herself finally decided to try out the Avelle
thing, if only temporary. It's revealed that Avelle is a famous (among
those who know that they exist) vampire hunter, complete with her own hunting
group. Juni actually manages to discover Avelle in a bar, and one
of Avelle's hunters, Terrace, invites her to come along for their next
mission, which was commissioned by Shadowlaw this time. Avelle asks
him why he's inviting such an inexperienced girl along, and he says that
it's because he couldn't refuse a cute lady like Juni. The group,
consisting of Avelle, Juni, Terrace, the cynical hunter Jonas, and the
large cheerful hunter Rob, treks into the forest to investigate reports
of a green monster, Blanka. In their way, however, are a bunch of
PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) wannabes, led by some African
gal named Olivia and her pet monkey Tams, who don't take kindly to Avelle
trying to force the poor 'animal' Blanka into captivity. Eventually,
however, Juni manages to catch the beast, impressing all of the hunters
by being able to take it on one on one. After Blanka was delivered
to Shadowlaw's clutches, he managed to break out and escape though, but
Avelle did her job so she still had to be paid. Back at Shadowlaw,
Janet is not very happy about this. It's also discovered that Olivia
is also one of Shadowlaw's elite female agents, and she reports that she
spotted Juni in the Avelle hunting group. This worries Janet a bit,
especially since Olivia, who's real name is Olvere, reports that Juni was
acting just like Avelle. Janet had to have Avelle terminated for
becoming too independent, and really doesn't feel like doing the same to
Juni, so she decides that she'll have Juni get dragged back to Shadowlaw
by force.
Juli is talking with Bremare about the doll project in a private room
Bremare had secretly constructed within his lab in Shadowlaw's main base,
Mrigranka. She wishes to learn more about her partner, but unfortunately
Bremare Yamoto can't answer any questions because he himself doesn't know
the answer, since he joined in late. He tells Juli that the scientists
in charge of the doll project speak in something called "birds language",
which sounds like English but is just really nonsensical, so he can't understand
a thing they say. Bremare then gets called by Janet, who is really
annoyed with him. She tells him that it was reported to her by agent
Olvere that Juni, who's his responsibility, ran off to join an Avelle vampire
hunting group. Bremare is quite dismayed when he finds out that Janet's
getting some thugs to return Juni to Mrigranka by force, and runs off to
take her back more peacefully. Juli thanks him for it, since by now
she's started to care about her partner, too. However, Juli is now
left with nothing to do so Janet makes Marzche and Serina keep her company.
Serina is the annoying microphone girl that all the other agents find...
well, annoying. Her and the apathetic Marzche don't make very good
company, but they do turn out to be somewhat useful when Juli discovers
she can use Marzche's computer and the various cameras in Mrigranka to
do some spying on several scientist meetings. Serina is quite dismayed
since she thinks spying is just plain mean, but that doesn't stop Juli
at all.
Juni Chapter 5: Springtime Miss Avelle
Avelle's on another mission again. This time, teamed up with the
handsome albino guy, Fokken, Juni, Terrace, and Terrace's latest girlfriend
Celina, she's trying to use magic to clean up pollution from New York for
a day so Terrace's girlfriend can see a beautiful sunset. Fokken,
however, leads her to a trap where it's revealed that Shadowlaw is after
her. He calls Avelle an imposter, but Avelle escapes the many men
in the room by using Fokken as a human shield to take the blunt of the
thugs' attacks. Juni talks to her outside of the building, confused
as to why Shadowlaw is after Avelle, but Avelle tells Juni that she herself
will handle the thugs and that Juni should just go complete the mission.
After that, Avelle runs off and Juni thinks about how great a person like
Avelle is, to do something like that. Juni then goes with Terrace
to a tower were they could use some magic charms Avelle picked up to clear
the skies of New York. There, she meets with Fokken again, who's
beat up from his last encounter with Avelle. Fokken tells her that
Shadowlaw is still coming, and Juni should stop hanging out with the hunter
group for her own sake, but Juni refuses. He tells Juni that he himself
will have to go after her, too, but decides to let her complete this mission
first. When the skies are cleared the next day, Celina, Terrace,
and Juni get to enjoy a beautiful sunset which Juni comments is the prettiest
thing she's ever seen.
More mystery filler chapters for Juli. She can't understand the
wierd bird language the scientists she's spying on are saying, either.
Juli heads to a larger computer where she hopes she can find something
to tell her how to interpret that babble, but at one of the main database
terminals, she finds agent Fenrir, along with another Native American elite
agent she hasn't seen before, Desire. They are observing a large
amount of blood on the floor, which the resident evil custodian's female
apprentice is trying hard to clean up. As Marzche accesses the database,
Fenrir tells Juli that Juli is just as expendable as the rest of the elite
agents. Juli ends up recruiting Desire to help her with the bird
language when Desire shows some interest. Desire also shows some
worry that Juli has been acting strange since her "soulmate" Juni ran off,
and Juli is confused as to why Desire thinks she and Juli (whom she calls
Julia) have known each other for a long time. Juli learns that bird
language is basically speaking using multiple meanings with the true meaning
hidden underneath, but even Desire can't interpret what the scientists
in the videotapes that Marzche recorded are saying. Finally, Juli
thanks them but decides it's hopeless then goes back to her's and Juni's
room. It's there where she finally realizes the truth though.
Looking at the fact that she and Juni and many other of the agents share
the same interests... love for minesweeper, love for cats, and many other
things like how she was supposed to have known Desire for a long time despite
how she was a new 'agent' who had just appeared recently, Juli finally
realized that the journal tape Bremare gave her wasn't supposed to be manually
read. It was supposed to be programmed into her memory like everyone
else's. Because like Juni, and Fenrir, and Desire, and Marzche, Juli...
was a DOLL, herself...
Juni Chapter 6 Makoto Chapter 7 Guy Chapter 8: Big Apple Brouhaha
Action chapter here. Terrace meets up with two of his old friends
who are now ex-hunters, Borrah and Jettaron. With them is a ninja
guy named... um... Guy. Terrace also ends up breaking up with Celina,
but it's hinted that he and Celina break up and get together again all
the time. Meanwhile, Juni's on the run from Fokken and the rest of
the thugs (among them Cracker Jack, Birdie, and Edi. E), but she gets saved
temporarily when a nearby karate girl, Makoto, decides to help her out.
Makoto finds out she's on the run from Shadowlaw, and decides to help Juni
out because she actually, like, has a conscience and despises Shadowlaw's
criminal schemes. Makoto and Juni quickly become friends and soon,
Terrace and co catches up with them. They devise a plot to get Juni
to the airport and out of the city, but it goes wrong when Fokken goes
after Juni despite taunts from Avelle, whom he can't even see. At
the air port, Fokken uses some psychic blasts which for some odd reason
cause a powerful reaction when they hit Juni, rendering the girl helpless
until Guy and Makoto simultaneously make Fokken their kung fu sandwhich.
At this point, Bremare Yamoto arrives in a plane just as the rest of the
thugs catch up and he stops the fighting, telling them that he'll take
Juni back to Shadowlaw. Juni is overjoyed to see him though Makoto's
left really confused when she discovers that Juni wasn't on the run from
Shadowlaw permanently, but really was just off on holiday and they wanted
to drag her back by force. Bremare ends up giving Makoto an anti-aphrodisiac
to help her battle some succubus enemy she's supposedly trying to fight
against. Guy, meanwhile, gets arrested for his involvement by an
annoyed Edi. E, who's also a police officer. Oops.
Juli Chapter 6: Ignorant Bliss
Juli... is very disturbed at the discovery that she herself is nothing
but a clone of someone. She voluntarily accompanies Doctor Janet
and fellow dolls Serina, Marzche, and Noelle the medic doll, to a mission
to track down someone named Rose. The mission was commissioned by
Janet and not Lord Bison, himself. Juli questions her humanity a
lot but can't come up with any answers, but eventually Janet collapses
from trying to perform some sort of psychic experiment. Noelle, dismayed,
wants to take her back to headquarters but she refuses and comments that
Noelle's vital to the mission. Eventually, it gets decided that Marzche
will take Janet back to headquarters, leaving only Serina and Noelle to
complete the mission with Juli in charge.
Juni Chapter 7: Alway's Sir Bison's
Well, Juni's home in Mrigranka again. But Juli isn't. Juni's
having fun talking with Avelle on internet chat, but she tells Avelle that
recently she discovered something very disturbing. She relates a
story about how Bison is no longer seeing the agents personally.
Desire comments that she believes Juni is sad because she's been away from
Juli for so long, hinting that she thinks Juni and Juli are lovers.
This disturbs Juni quite a bit. Eventually Agent Fenrir arrives and
tells Juni that Bison not only is no longer seeing them, but never personally
saw them often in the first place. This confuses Juni a lot, and
she goes to ask Bremare what's going on. She spots Dr. Yamoto talking
to his friend Eric Masterson through a vidphone. Bremare is annoyed
that the network is down because of encryption updating, but eventually
the subject changes and Eric comments that Bison only cares for Agent Cammy
now. This leaves Juni quite in tears and she runs back to her room,
where she chats with Avelle so much about her feelings and that she can't
believe it. Then Fenrir, Olvere, and a Shadowlaw scientist Professor
Irvine arrive at her room for a 'check-up.' Avelle warns Juni that
if they catch her, Juni will be in big trouble because they might scan
her memory, so Juni runs off and escapes them. She eventually arrives
at the Hanger bay, where Cammy is hanging out with one of the four Shadowlaw
Lords, Vega. Cammy eventually bails Juni out by defending her from
Olvere, and Fenrir and Olvere shout some insults at Cammy for taking Bison
away from all of them before leaving. Vega laughs at all of this
before leaving, himself. Irvine's also overjoyed by the large amount
of Freudian weaponry and moves used during the scuffle before he also leaves,
leaving Juni with Cammy alone. Juni talks with Cammy about that,
and Cammy comments that she has to try her best for Lord Bison, even if
it was at the price of rising to the top and becoming alienated by everyone
else. Juni finally understands that Cammy really is doing her best
for Shadowlaw and the whole taking Bison away from the rest of the dolls
sadly was a side effect of that, and she thanks Cammy for protecting their
lord Bison.
Juli's still angsting about her humanity. Then their target Rose
finally arrives. Juli, Noelle, and Serina confront Rose, where Juli,
angry at her own life in general now, gets into an argument with Rose about
various tangents. She finally orders Serina and Noelle to attack,
upon which Serina and Noelle's demeanor almost changes to that of preprogrammed
death machines, which disturbs Juli a little but by now she doesn't really
care anymore. Rose manages to fend them off for a bit before Juli
finally decides to assault Rose, herself. Angry at her own uselessness,
Juli goes beserk, and Rose has a hard time fending her off until she manages
to knock Juli out using a psychic attack. The blast manages to knock
out Serina and Noelle, too. Afterwords, Rose took all the girls in
to their household, whereupon Juli finally wakes up. Juli apologizes
for her outburst and comments that she just wanted to destroy 'something
beautiful', because to her, all beauty in life was sucked away when she
discovered that her own life was just a useless artificial creation.
She finds out that Rose was an old personal enemy of sorts to Bison, though
that still didn't explain why Janet sent her on the mission instead of
Bison. Eventually, Juli figures that they learned all they could
learn from Rose so the mission was over, but just as she is about to leave
with Serina and Noelle, Rose makes a comment when she sees Marzche's computer
that a computer game she enjoyed was Minesweeper...
Juni Chapter 8: A Misunderstanding of History
Flashback chapter. Bremare tells Juni of his life. A story
which he never told Juli. Before he joined Shadowlaw, Bremare had
a girlfriend named Ferishi, whom he got together with after finding her
dismayed from being rejected from some sort of psychic club. One
day, a girl named Jen-Ya arrived with Senoh, and invited Bremare to join
Shadowlaw as a physics scientist, with Ferishi tagging along. The
invitation was originally supposed to be for Jen-Ya's old friend Ferishi,
but Jen-Ya wasn't impressed by Ferishi so she invited Bremare instead.
There are many times when Juni rants about how much she likes Shadowlaw
and wishes to follow Bison's dream within this chapter too, as well as
the subtle revealing that Juni is a really big Hitler fan, and is annoyed
at how everyone sees that Nazi leader as evil. Other things revealed
are that Juni's partner, Juli, actually supposedly is Native American for
some reason, though Juni has trouble believing it. Bremare continues
his story where in Shadowlaw, Ferishi was not having a very good time.
Jen-Ya made her the evil custodian's apprentice, forcing her to do... well,
custodial duty. And evil custodial duty at that. Ferishi talks
about how she wanted to be in the special forces, but some other sword
girl there got the position instead. Bremare's friend Eric Masterson
tells Bremare that the special forces really aren't for her, but eventually
the two decide that Ferishi should go to Jen-Ya to stop with the whole
custodial thing. Jen-Ya eventually strikes some sort of deal with
Ferishi, though it's not known what, and Ferishi becomes a secret agent
and assassin. Over time, however, Ferishi and Bremare gradually grew
apart. Ferishi became more and more bitter and intolerant of Bremare,
and eventually one day finally reached a breaking point and the two broke
up. Bremare practically begs Ferishi about why she's becoming like
this, and Ferishi, crying, finally tells him that she doesn't really know,
but she can't change it and she runs off. The story ends with present
day Bremare commenting that Ferishi ended up dying on her next mission
and he never saw her again. Juni is brought to tears by the story,
but back at her room, Avelle confronts her. Juni's surprised that
Avelle got there, and Avelle tells her that she came because she was worried
that Juni might have been caught when Fenrir went after her for the memory
scan. Avelle tells Juni that she thinks Bremare really likes her,
and that Juni should take advantage of him, but an annoyed Juni refuses,
saying that she can't because she thinks she's in love with Bremare, too.
Juli and Rose are having a conversation at Rose's house. It is
here that the two talk about their pasts to each other. Juli was
an Agent of Shadowlaw, and her life pretty much apparently really started
after a failed mission to kill Avelle. Fenrir called her worthless,
but she came across Bremare Yamoto, who was just as depressed as she was.
The two fast became friends, and eventually Bremare gave Juli Juni as a
gift of friendship, and eventually, from there, Juli discovered that she
herself was just a doll. Rose's history was that she belonged to
an Organization of Psychics which has been around since World War II, the
Third Eye. Apparently, M. Bison himself also got in. Eventually,
Bison got possessed with a lust for power, and eventually, 'changed everything.'
Rose finally realizes that odds are the dolls were based after some sort
of psychic merging involving her and Bison, which answers Juli's question
of who the dolls were cloned after. It's revealed that Serina was
listening to all of this during the whole time, though she doesn't act
very surprised. Juli finally decides to leave, and rejects Rose's
suggestion to betray Shadowlaw. Rose tells Juli that her self-consciousness
will eventually overcome Juli's programming, but Juli says that despite
that, she doesn't have a reason to betray Shadowlaw, and in fact should
be thanking Bison for giving her life. Back at Shadowlaw, Noelle
finally reports the whole psychic reaction thing that knocked the dolls
out to Professor Irvine, who now realizes that Rose knows what the dolls
are, but is actually overjoyed that the "authority figure" Rose was able
to overcome the dolls in battle, helping to prove his theory that the Freudian
power of authority overcomes everything else.
Juli and Juni Chapter 9: Homecoming Prom
Flashback. A younger Juli is following her orders to terminate
the renegade Agent Avelle. She finally confronts Avelle, but deep
down is afraid because Avelle's more skilled than her, and Juli doesn't
want to die. Avelle asks Juli to go with her one last time, but Juli
refuses, saying that she could never betray Lord Bison and didn't have
any reason to, then the combat starts as the flashback ends. Juli
and Juni are finally reunited again, though Juni's still wary of Desire's
yuri-licious theory. She noted that Juli was acting rather depressed,
so she takes Juli to a place called Crown Arcade, the official arcade of
everyones' favorite anime, Sailor Moon. Juli meets up with Avelle's
hunters when Juni shows her to them, but Terrace freaks when he sees Juli
for unknown reasons, mistaking her to be a girl named Bess, whom Avelle
supposedly killed. Fokken, whom Juli deduces is from the same organization
Rose is from. She discovers that Avelle learned about the doll project
too, and still believes Avelle is alive and that her mission to terminate
Avelle failed. Fokken tells Juli that the rumours of Avelle being
around are false and that the current Avelle running around is an imposter,
then tells Juli he saw Avelle die. Juli refuses to believe him.
Meanwhile, Serina signs Juni and Avelle on to a job to investigate the
dissappearance of the stars of Sailor Moon, since she heard rumours of
vampires kidnapping them. Eventually, Bremare Yamoto arrives, but
Juli meets him first. He came personally to check up on Juni since
he didn't want her running off again and getting in any danger. Juli's
surprised that he cares so much for Juni, since Juni's just a clone, but
Bremare tells her that he doesn't care that Juni's a clone and that to
him, Juni's unique. This cheers Juli up a lot, because although Bremare
doesn't realize it, it tells Juli that despite the fact that she herself
is a clone, she's still unique, herself. Meanwhile, Juni finally
catches the two together and is surprised when she realizes that seeing
them together is making her jealous of Juli...
Juli and Juni Chapter 10: Yamoto Love
Juli is watching Fenrir train with a doll she hasn't seen before, Aurora.
Aurora eventually goes beserk though but repressed supposedly deleted memories
of the past allows Juli to remember how to handle her. Juli then
wonders why she's still kept around if she's so defective, but consoles
herself with the fact that it must be because someone somewhere out there,
despite how Aurora is a clone like the rest of them, must care about Aurora.
After that, Juli finally confronts Juni about the news of Avelle being
back, and Juni's dismayed to find out that Juli will go after Avelle eventually
to finish the termination job. They also talk about Bremare's feelings
for Juni, but tells Juni not to worry and that she'll gladly help Juni
and Bremare get together, and this cheers Juni up a lot. Meanwhile,
Desire watches and is dismayed that Juli and Juni are going off on tangents
with Bremare when it's so obvious to her that Juli and Juni are in love
with each other. Juli eventually takes Juni to confront Bremare at
a scientist meeting, and in front of everyone, Juni asks Bremare out on
a date. This surprises everyone else. Janet is especially disturbed
and tries to subtlely bring up the whole clone thing to Bremare while Irvine
is ecstatic at the Freudian connotations of a father figure being in love
with the daughter figure. This disturbs Bremare quite a lot, but
Juli tells Bremare to ignore Irvine for Juni's sake. Bremare is surprised
at this, and asks Juli to see him later. Meanwhile, Juni's getting
prepared for the date when Avelle walks in on her again and tells her that
she shouldn't be in love with Bremare but instead see this whole love thing
as a machiavaellian oppurtunity to abuse Bremare's position as a scientist.
Avelle eventually has to hide though when Serina and Juli come in to talk
with her more about the date. Eventually, shortly before the time
Bremare's supposed to meet Juni at the restaurant, Juli goes to see him
as requested where Bremare asks why she seems to be going through so much
trouble for Juni's sake. Here, Juli realizes that she's doing it
as a sort of wish fulfillment. Not only because she wants to see
Juni be happy, but because she sees herself in Juni, too. At that,
Juli finally realizes that she herself fell in love with Bremare, but before
she can tell him that, Irvine arrives and finally tells Bremare the real
truth about the doll project. That the dolls are cloned after M.
Bison, himself, and that Juni's just a female manifestation of the big
ol' manly dictator of doooooom. The whole realization is enough to
make Bremare throw up, and despite Juli's protests, he eventually ends
up standing Juni up on the date, leaving the blonde agent in tears.
As Juni's crying in Juli's arm, Juli finally realizes that the dolls ARE
worthless and in the end, no one cares about them.
Juli and Juni Chapter 11: Springtime in June
Arc finale. Fokken is talking to someone as a soft springtime
lullaby with lyrics about Avelle plays in the background. He hands
this someone, Bess, a mask, and Bess leaves to finally kill Avelle.
Meanwhile, Avelle is dealing with trouble herself as news of overly powerful
vampiric activity seems looming on the horizon, but when a masked girl
walks past the tavern, she's stunned, then tells the rest of the hunter
group to just do whatever because she had some personal issues she had
to attend to. After everyone but Avelle and Juni is gone, Avelle
tells Juni that Juli's finally come to kill them all, and that the only
way to stop her is to kill her, but Juni can't bring herself to do it.
Avelle says she expects to see Juni at the battleground, then leaves.
As Juni leaves the tavern in the rainy night, Terrace stops her though.
He asks Juni not to go after Bess and reconsider. He tells Juni that
long ago thanks to his fault, Avelle decided to go after Bess, saying she'd
be back, but she didn't come back. Juni remarks that the current
Avelle is an imposter, but Terrace tells her that the current Avelle, imposter
or not, brought life back to the hunter group and finally cheered everyone
else up, and so did Juni, and begs Juni not to go. Eventually, Juni
decides to leave anyway, and Terrace can't stop her. At the battleground,
Juli finally confronts Avelle with the Bess mask, but takes it off, saying
that she isn't ignorant anymore and thus the mask doesn't fit. The
red-haired Avelle decides to use this oppurtunity to put on a mask of her
own, then the fight starts. It finally ends however with Avelle blasting
Juli with a lightning blast from her gun, and Juli's last view before losing
consciousness is of a blonde Avelle about to shoot her and kill her.
Eventually, Juli wakes up with Juni crying over her, telling her that she
had to stop Avelle and couldn't bear to see Juli get killed. Juli
tells Juni that she has no choice, since her mission orders were to kill
Avelle, and [because she's a doll], she can't go against her orders.
Back at base, Juli is dismayed at failing again but Olvere stops her and
tells her not to worry so much. Olvere says that the rumours of Avelle
still being alive were really just rumours, and that she never saw Avelle,
herself. It's here that Juli starts to realize all the clues, such
as Fokken being so angry about Juni as he talked to Juli of the imposter
Avelle, and Juni being on the network chatting with Avelle despite how
the network was down. She finally realized that the current Avelle
running around really was Juni all along, and realizes that Juni did this
all of her own accord, free from any programming the doll project gave
her, because she herself saw it as something she wanted to do, not because
she was programmed to want to do it. Juli eventually finds a way
to tell the hunter group that Bess is finally truly dead, and happily watches
as they cheer Juni on for her victory.
