What Is SwankyTown?

Swankytown is the Creation of AnubisXy from the Palladium Message Boards.  Of course, there is some dissention on this, but it's irrelevant in this case, as we are focusing on the idea for a fictional city of online role-players.  This is the particular "Swankytown" of which we speak.  Eventually, Swankytown even got it's own forum.  This is when I discovered the Palladium Message board, when the forum was brand new.

Due to the efforts of people at the Cult of Posts (a rival website, of sorts) a copyright was found, as some animation company had used the name since '90 or so.  I believe that Darkholm Specifically asked Maryanne to erase the forum, based off of this potential infringement.

We do not intend to steal the name of Swankytown.  To this end, we have created the "Citadel of Spam".  It is NOT copyrighted, and the name change is truly only that, a name change.  Same People, same idea, only a free name.
              The Swank Score

The Swank Scores were arbitrarily assigned by me.  Later, on a forum posting, our own opinions changed these ratings.  I believe I was fair, and took peoples opinions in stride.  A valid point meant that I would acquiesce, and raise/lower someone's Swank Rating.

The Scale goes from 0 to 10.  5 is a Neutral rating.  0 is Unswanky, whereas 10 is amazingly swanky.

I treat raising someone's score as something which must be handled cautiosly.  Up to 8 is fairly easy.  8 to 9 I take time with that decision, and only if I believe that one person has gained a lot of popularity would I give them a score above 9.5

To avoid seeming opinionated, I kept my score at an 8, meaning that I was accepted by the forum in General, but far from "Great".  Others who had been around longer I was willing to give a 9, based on seniority.

Swank is kinda fluid.  It's not a scientific benchmark, but it's not supposed to be.
       Status

Status is a new measurement.  If a position is listed as Emeritus, it means that it is an honorary position, below the normal level.   A praetorian emeritus would be like an advanced Denizen, or a lesser Pratorian.

Pontifex Maximus:  Although in Roman Society the "High Priest" was ranked between the Consuls and the Censors, in The Citadel we place this position above them all.  Lord AnubisXy is the Pontifex Maximus.  He is unseen now, but created the foundation for all that has come to be.  For this reason, he is honored with this nearly irrevocable title of Supremacy

Consul:  The elite crew of Swankitons who have been important.  Each is a veteran of one of the Swank Wars, perhaps a survivor of SwankZilla's rampage, or maybe a combatant in one of our battles.  Exceptions to this policy of veteranship may be given, provided that support of other consuls is stated in forum.  Consuls are like joint CEOs of a corporation.  Their words are final in decisions.

Censor:  If the Consuls are CEOs, then a Censor is a member or the Board of Directors.  Their position is to advise Consuls and deliberate over when a Consul makes an error.  It is wise to listen, for a loss of support could mean a revocation of a Consul's status.

Praetor:  While not an "Elder" or member of the Consul, these people have distinguished themselves in some way.  They have diplomatic power to suggest reduction of swank, tell plebians that they must move their living quarters, and are empowered to correct the lesser members of the board.

Denizen:  A full Fledged member of The Citadel.  They have full legal rights, are given a place to live comfortably.

Plebian:  Someone who has simply visited the Board.  They should be given the chance to prove themselves, but must fend for themselves.  Cash Only, All Sales Final, and Get your own House.

Lurker:  These strange beings hide in the shadows.  Rarely seen, some even think that they don't really exist.  Sightings of these elusive creatures keep popping up, however, which seems to indicate that they do indeed exists.  Either you believe in them or not.  Some people assert that there is no way for these alleged beings to simply "hide" from us, with our expansion allways going to new territories, and our ability to see so much.  Surely by now we would have captured one to determine it's physiology.  Others are stalwart believers, claiming to have seen them personally, talked to them, or caught glimpses of them, perhaps on a camcorder.  I say they do exist, and have seen several of them personally, though others say I'm crazy to say so out loud.
