Sometimes, an artist puts out an album that is their best work ever. For Kid Rock, that album was "Devil Without A Cause." That is not the album I'm reviewing, however. What Kid Rock has done with "The History of Rock" is taken a bunch of his old material and put it in a new package. The only new song on this album is American Badass, and that song is only pretty good at best. It seems Kid took a few pages from the various members of the rap community, because he's using other peoples music to generate new material (So yes, that IS Metallica you are hearing in the background). Don't get me wrong, the songs don't suck. In fact, most of the songs on the album are decent, but I wouldn't call them spectacular. Hey, Kid Rock... here's an idea for you; Why don't we just do some work and put out something NEW! There's a reason your eariler stuff wasn't popular... |
