Gravity Kills - Self Titled
By Steve Province
There is something to be said for a song that grabs hold of you and won't let go.  Gravity Kills' hit single "Guilty" is one of those songs.  From the hypnotizing introduction at the beginning of the album, to the hard-edged song "Enough," Gravity Kills delivers in their freshman effort.  Many describe the band as ripping off Trent Reznor's band, Nine Inch Nails, however that's not really the case.  Gravity Kills has created their own distinct sound.  In fact, the only song similar in comparison to Nails is "Guilty" via a sound much like "Head Like A Hole."
The album itself is amazing simply because of the fact that it's hard without flaunting it.  Most of the songs are fast paced and heavy, but not in the way you would normally expect.
"Enough" is the fastest song on the album, and there's a soft touch to it that leaves wou wondering where to classify the sound.  The simple fact is Gravity Kills IS the classification... you just don't know it until you listen to the album.  With awesome guitar rifts, wicked backround synthesizers, and a rage filled vocals courtesy of Jeff Scheel, Gravity Kills is one band that will be around for quite some time.
