The Foo Fighters- The Colour and The Shape
By Steve Province
Foo Fighters have always been in a gray area for meI always put them into the same area as Toadies and Silverchair.  This is why I was surprised by how good The Colour and The Shape sounds.  This is the bands sophomore effort, and its a very good one at that.  Dave Grohl (lead vocals), formerly of Nirvana, does a very good job on this album.  The Foo Fighters light, poppy styling contrasts with the hard, fast-paced nature of the music in Colour, which makes it hard to place exactly where these sounds are categorized.  Some of the highlights for this CD are the radio smash Monkey Wrench, My Hero, Everlong, and the awesome track Walking After You, a radio acoustic.  The song My Hero doesnt sound like a song that would affect your emotions at first, but by the end of the song its tugging on those strings like a fisherman in a Godzilla remake.  One of the cute songs that I thought was just great is the track See You.  This song is so simple and it is just easy to listen to.  Most of the songs on this CD give you a feeling of happiness, because the songs are so cool to listen to.
I think one of the reasons Foo Fighters is doing so well on this album is they spent a two-year period between this one and the first getting their stuff together.  Dave Grohl has become a very good singer in this time frame, and despite his musical limitations, the vocals are awesome.  Pat Smears guitar style is hard and poppy at the same time, and its mostly acoustic, which is very cool.  This is a good listen folks
