| Here we have a movie that I was torn on. Should I see it or should I pass on it? I couldn't decide. Well, as it turns out fate decided for me, as in some friends and I were at the movies and nothing else was showing but this film, so we saw it and... it wasn't that bad. It wasn't that good either. The movie, based on the hit 70's TV show, stars Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu as three female dectectives hired to find a computer specialist and his stolen software. The girls do a pretty good job as the angels and their characters are very likable (not to mention hot and sexy, but that's the point right?) The film also has a variety of good actors and talented comedians like Bill Murray, Tim Curry, Tom Green, and LL Cool J playing more minor parts in the film. Unfortunitly the majority of these actor's talents (Murray and Curry to be specific) are wasted on undeveloped characters, while others (like Green and LL) are only on screen for a matter of minutes. There was one stand out performance in this film though, and it was actually quite a surprise to me. It was none other than Crispin Glover (George McFly, from the original Back to the Future) as the badass henchman. This guy would come in and kick all three of the angel's butts at once! The dude was just plain cool. I keep saying to myself "Damn, George McFly is kicking some ass!" The fight scenes in the movie were also not that bad, though they seemed like blatent rip-offs of the Matrix at points. I didn't understand why Charlie's Angels needed bullet time, but whatever. Also the script became predictable about half-way through and the dialogue at points made me groan. But despite the drawbacks, I did have fun at this movie. It was funny, sexy, and had some cool action and a badass villain. Not to mention it had outakes at the end of the film, and I love outakes. They're funny. |
